Frequently Asked Questions To A Psychologist

Very often, before making an appointment or consultation, people ask various questions. I will try to answer the questions that are more often asked to me.

How long will it take to solve my problem?

It all depends on the reason for the request. One can only roughly answer this question. If you only need a consultation with a psychologist (psychotherapist, psychoanalyst), then the number of receptions will vary from one to eight to ten. If you want to undergo short-term therapy, then it will take up to six months (from one to five times a week). If you want to undergo psychoanalysis (often they say - psychoanalytic psychotherapy), then you should be patient and be ready for therapy from one and a half to five to six years.

How often will you need to go to appointments?

From once a week to five. It depends on your financial capabilities, free hours of the psychologist himself and your ability to adjust your schedule.

How much will my treatment cost?

The cost of my appointment is 2000 rubles at a time. Usually the cost remains the same. But in extreme cases, a downward revision is possible. This is possible if there is an urgent need for my help, but financial resources do not allow me to pay for the appointment in full.

Will the information I share with you remain confidential?

This is one of the basic rules for me. Everything that happens during the reception and outside the office remains confidential. This rule can be violated if there is a real threat to your life and health (suicide, self-mutilation, etc.), in such cases I will have to seek help from close relatives and special services.

Do you give advice?

In different ways, everything is individual. If there is a real need for this, I can advise something. I am always trying to figure out what the real desire and feelings are behind asking for advice. It is understanding these feelings that is the key to problem solving and recovery. If you need advice, I will give it to you. If advice is not necessary and it only hurts - no, I will not give advice.

Are you more silent or talking at the reception?

First, I try very hard not to interfere with talking about my problems. Of course I ask questions, but I do not try to "fall asleep" with them. The more a person tells me, the better I can help him.

Which is better: an individual appointment or a psychotherapy group? What is the difference?

The answer to this question is given after the problem of the person who asked for help has been preliminary investigated. Individual work provides greater contact between therapist and client. The group allows you to consider all possible options for a person's relationship with others and, therefore, allows you to better see the problems associated with this. Therefore, what is better is determined with each specific person individually. There are also different costs for group and individual therapy. Usually the cost of a group meeting is 10-30% lower than the cost of an individual appointment with a specialist.

How long have you worked in Psychology?

I have been practicing for over 10 years.

How to determine who I need: a psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist or psychoanalyst? What is the difference between them?

It can be determined based on the problem. If you only need a consultation, then a psychologist will suit you, since during the consultation there is no deep study of the problem, but only a consultation takes place. Psychotherapists are divided into medical and non-medical. The first received higher medical education, the second provide non-drug psychotherapeutic assistance. This form of work is distinguished by a deeper study of the problem. Psychiatrists work with people with mental disorders: hallucinations, obsessions, delusions, decreased intelligence, etc. Psychoanalysts are specialists working within the framework of the idea of psychoanalysis. They can be both psychologists and psychotherapists.

Can I call you in addition to consultations if I have any questions? Or if you just need support?

Yes it is possible. This is also discussed at the first meeting.

Can I bring with me a person with whom I have difficult and problematic communication? Will it affect the cost of admission?

Yes, you can come with a person with whom you have a difficult relationship. I do not only hold individual receptions, but also family ones. This will not affect the cost.

Is the center where you work officially registered? Can I conclude a contract?

Yes, the psychological center where I work is officially registered. We can conclude an agreement in the form of a psychological center and discuss your additions. Any dialogue is appreciated.

Do you work with fears?

Yes, I work with all fears. For example, with such as: fear of rejection, fear of loneliness, fear of imminent failure, fear of heights, fear of various animals and insects, fear of death, fear of public speaking, fear of getting sick with any disease, fear of pain, fear of physical injury, fear of water, fear loss of loved ones and relatives, fear of blood, fear of an internal crisis (age, crisis of social status, crisis of family life, etc.) and many others. For example, with such fears: rejection, loneliness, imminent failure, heights, various animals and insects, death, public speaking, getting sick with any disease, pain, physical injury, water, loss of loved ones and relatives, blood, the occurrence of an internal crisis (age, crisis of social status, crisis of family life, etc.) and with many others. You can turn to me with any fear you have, and I will help you overcome it.
