What is perfectionism? What are the features of this belief, how can it be reduced?
In psychology, perfectionism is the belief that an ideal can and should be achieved. What can be the manifestation of perfectionism? The fact that a person, performing certain actions, will always observe himself from the outside and evaluate his behavior and himself as a whole (for example: “I wrote this word well? ?). As a result, in order to write one paragraph, a person can only evaluate himself from the outside for half an hour ("Is this good? And this? And if I build a sentence in this way?").
As a result, a huge amount of effort and energy is spent not only on the work itself, but also on the assessment of absolutely every word in the text, which is quite difficult to do. What is the light technique? You need to "turn on" the perfectionist mode later - to conduct an assessment after completing a certain piece of work. A good example is my work on the YouTube channel. Approximately once a quarter or half a year, a video is recorded, within three months, subscribers' comments are assessed (accordingly, some tips are taken into account). Then comes a turning point, when the work done is assessed as a whole - "So, this and this is not so, these moments need to be worked out, but this should be postponed for now."
A similar scheme can be applied to absolutely any area of activity, especially if it is creative work or some kind of training. How does it look in practice? First, you work as best you can and after a while (depending on the frequency of actions), for example, once a week or two weeks, conduct a “knowledge snapshot” to find bottlenecks that need additional editing and elaboration. Then you should contact someone who can help you deal with this skill, or work on the problem yourself by studying additional articles or watching a video.
However, one must remember that perfectionism is always accompanied by self-flagellation and self-deprecation - "I am bad because I did this!" Such a line of behavior is fundamentally wrong - on the contrary, you need to develop calmer emotions for your actions, there should be a tolerant and respectful attitude towards yourself, you need to give yourself the right to make mistakes (this is normal, because a person learns!). And most importantly, you must always remember that you want to become an order of magnitude better, and over time it will!

Less Perfectionism, More Action

Perfectionism Or Endless Improvement
“… Perfectionism was not on the list of good habits. No one said that the joy of life or success came to him due to being too demanding of himself. Just the opposite! People said: "The most valuable and important thing in life happens when we dare to be vulnerable, imperfect and kind to ourselves.
Perfectionism
There are a number of phenomena in the psyche that are the basis for the development of pathological conditions and diseases. Among them, perhaps, one of the most honorable places is occupied by perfectionism. He is remembered quite often in connection with a variety of psychological problems, disorders of the neurotic spectrum, as well as quite strongly associated with exacerbations of mental illness.
Perfectionism As A Slow And Brutal Way To Commit Suicide
Perfectionism as a slow and brutal way to commit suicide. How often do we hear from others or / and say to ourselves: "Everything should be right!" And the other one is better. What is it better for me or me than for him?”Well, and as a consequence:
Perfectionism: "be Perfect Or Die"
I am writing this article because b O Most of my clients are perfectionists, and they find many excuses for perfectionism: the need to stand out from others, get approval and admiration, avoid punishment, criticism, feelings of shame … The described motives well reflect the atmosphere of childhood, in which these attitudes were laid:
