A sleeping baby is not only cute, but finally.
A meek child, closing her eyes with a sweet sigh at exactly nine in the evening and not making a sound until the parental alarm rings, is beautiful, like a fairy tale. And it occurs just as often. Most of them are not easy to fit. And this is no accident. When was the last time, instead of hands folded under the cheek and plunging into an affectionate sleep, you dumbed into the computer until midnight? And then they complained about lack of sleep, right? Because I can't sleep in the evening. Problems, worries, plans, full moon, dinner too late - everything is against you. So that's it. Children also have their own problems, interests, anxieties and lack of communication with their parents. And it prevents them from falling asleep.
In general, sleep is not so easy. This is a little semblance of death. The eyes do not look, the ears do not listen carefully, the arms and legs are relaxed and not ready for action. While the soul travels somewhere where it is supposed to be, the body remains defenseless. And from ancient cave times, it remembers this and requires confirmation: tomorrow I will wake up, I am safe. The child cannot stand up for himself, therefore he seeks confirmation from his parents. And, of course, he can and should be helped in this.
A few simple steps will help you put your baby to bed on time and help him sleep more comfortably
1. Rest for 20-40 minutes before and after sleep
Regardless of whether you are amusing your child, scolding or just playing perky noisy games, this should stop 20-40 minutes before going to bed. The psyche needs time to slow down active processes and go into sleep mode.
In the morning it's the same. It takes time to get to the active mode, and the child must get used to the confidence that the awakening will be calm and safe anyway. This will help him sleep better.
2. Permanent placement time and place
If you take care of putting your child to bed at the same time and in the same place as much as you can, he will know what to expect from the evening. This will give him confidence and help him fall asleep on his own over time.
3. Observe rituals
Rituals have a calming effect on adults, and children simply adore them. Do not get annoyed with "drink-pee-sing a lullaby", just try to fit them into the usual framework.
The ritual can begin with an evening bath and brushing of teeth, after which there is no need to feed the child. The helpful part is reading aloud. Helps compensate for the lack of attention from working parents, along the way developing the child's emotional and social skills. Don't be afraid to sing lullabies even if you are deaf. The child is not important vocal data, but the sounds of his own voice.
4. Toys go to sleep too
There is nothing wrong with a child taking their favorite toy into the crib. This is his additional confirmation: the world is here, it has not gone anywhere, it is constant in the main thing, like parental love. 5. Airing
This is unconditional. Whether in winter or summer, a child cannot and should not sleep in a stuffy atmosphere. Before laying, the room should be well ventilated, the air should be fresh, light, odorless of food, flowers, eau de toilette, household fresheners.
6. Heat relaxes, cold wakes you up
The well-ventilated room simultaneously cooled the baby's bed. A cold sheet excites a sleeping baby no worse than a cold shower. The same method works for transferring a sleeping baby from a stroller to a crib - the chances of waking them drop dramatically. The heating pad must be removed immediately before laying.
7. Leave some light
Most children do not fall asleep well in bright light or in its absence. It's best if you manage to take care of a dim, pretty night light that's soothing but doesn't illuminate the room too much, or just leave a soft light somewhere outside the room, from your parents' side.
8. Hurry slowly
Little trick: when a child calls you at night, wait a couple of seconds. Regardless of your condition, walk up to your child and talk to him calmly. Increase the delay by a few more seconds each time.
9. Repetition is the mother of learning
Whenever you return to your child, remember to gently remind you that it's time to sleep.
10. Whispering is a sign of alarm
Nothing excites like a mystery. Even if you need to discuss some adult matters and there is no way to talk about them outside children's ears, do not whisper. Speak in an undertone, even and monotonously. Remember how desperately you wanted to sleep in boring lectures?
Children's sleep is a subtle thing. Even a change of room, blanket or nipples can affect it, not to mention the state of health, the growth of teeth and, of course, fatigue during the day. The rituals will help you streamline the laying process. But if they take too long, try to slowly reduce their execution time without changing the comfortable sequence of actions.
