Short lead-up to the film. Quoted from Wikipedia.

“Three Colors” (French “Trois Couleurs”, Polish “Trzy kolory”) is a trilogy filmed in 1993-1994 by Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski: “Three Colors: Blue”, “Three Colors: White”, “Three Colors: Red.

Blue, white and red are the colors of the French flag (from left to right), and the story of each film is somehow based on one of the mottos of the French Republic: "freedom, equality, brotherhood."

So, the film raises questions of equality - psychological, and perhaps even spiritual-karmic … Problematic question! Let's turn to the plot …

The beginning of the film. The tie. / Psychological judgments

The main character (Polish hairdresser Karol) goes to the courthouse, where the divorce proceedings are scheduled with his beloved, but divorced wife, a beautiful French woman Dominique.

On the way to court (I think this directorial symbolism is not accidental) Karol falls into pigeon droppings, a bird flying over him.

That is, from the first minutes of the plot, the viewer observes a miserable, rejected hero. Who, as a result of a divorce, loses not only his beloved woman, but also documents, housing …

The former life in France is impossible …

After being washed as a social outcast, our hero illegally, but successfully returns to his homeland, to Poland.

But what do you think? In a suitcase …

This directorial symbolism, I suppose, was also admitted for a reason … The once successful and talented hairdresser, by the will of the villainous fate, like a boring, unnecessary thing, was thrown to the sidelines of his life … As a thing, he was transported to Poland … An unexpected comrade, compatriot, future friend …

Continuation of the plot. The climax. / Subsequent analysis

Unable to stop loving his ex-wife, Karol decides to get rich in order to prove to the beautiful Dominic his worth (and this is what his wife most of all rests on in court - I believe, not only in the direct, but also in the figurative meaning of a particular word.

And in a fairly short time, Karol gets rich (in an illegal, but effective way). What's next?

The hero conceived the following: he will be fictitiously buried (buried), and his ex-wife will receive, by will, all his fortune (impressive at the moment). Karol wants to prove to Dominique how much he loves her … What else? To see a woman precious to his heart (after all, in the event of his death, she will come to say goodbye to him).

His whole life is focused on his beloved - all his thoughts are only about Dominic … And weak hopes, to change something in her heart …

Plot denouement. / Conclusions

Karol is fictitiously buried. Dominique came to the funeral. She stands at the grave and mourns her ex-husband. Sincerely, ardently … Karol watches her beloved from hiding, and upon Dominic's return to his brother's house, he opens up to her …

The beauty who survived the loss is infinitely happy about the resurrection of her lost spouse. Former lovers missed, they are in love again. Ahead of them is a night full of passion. But in the morning (according to the prevailing conditions) Karol disappears again - legally he is not, he must observe his new position and is forced to “evaporate”.

Dominic is in despair - only now she realized that she loved her lost spouse, only now she piercedly appreciated how much she loved him.

She acutely experiences her abandonment, similar to how she once experienced her abandonment, her husband abandoned by her.

Dominic's position is irreparable and devastating! By analogy with the recent circumstances of her betrayed spouse.

Moreover, Dominic has trials of unfair humiliation ahead of him, equal in strength to those experienced by Karol …

When, without a roof over his head, without documents, without work and food, unfortunate Karol, begging, wandered through the subway passages - rejected, humiliated, desecrated …

And either this part of male revenge, or the boomerang of the hardest fate, but Dominic is visited by the police, accusing her of the possibility of premeditated murder in order to obtain a significant inheritance. The woman is imprisoned …

The plot ends at the next piercing scene. Karol stands under the windows of his ex-wife's dungeon. Dominic asks him for help with signs and informs him of his intention to marry his beloved again. Karol bursts into tears, literally exuding love …

On this significant note, the film is interrupted … The heroes' prospects are painful and sorrowful, but how many inner comprehensions, gains, fire settled in the hearts of both …

The beginning of a film about internal fracture and external collapse. The middle is about the inner and outer transformation of the hero in the name of great love. The end of the plot is about amazing metamorphoses of feelings, soul, spirit.

Love has won, which means there is hope - for possible turn for the better

Now to the principle inherent in the plot … A film about equality - internal positions, life, spiritual experience. Equality of the experience makes the heroes equal, providing them with a new path to their future, the next round of relations …
