“And it’s the same for me…” - often the participants of my lectures say this phrase with a smile, relief and some surprise when others share their experience …

“Yes, and I feel that way (or I feel myself, or I know it)” - clients say with joy in their voice at individual consultations.

Or when people turn and shyly voice their difficulty or ask their question adding: "Most likely my question will seem very strange to you (or stupid, or abnormal)", and they hear that I often answer such questions, they are encouragedly surprised: "Really?"

Behind these situations, the jubilation of clients seems to be hidden "Hurray, I'm not the only one!"

Such situations are common when faced with any life questions, when it seems to you that “all people are like people, and you are a gladiolus”! And usually in our head and in our imagination these “other normal and ordinary people” are ideal, sinless and problem-free, everything is easy, beautiful and correct with them, they do everything and experience something differently, somehow normal. And we often compare ourselves with these fantasy people to our disadvantage.

Awareness “I'm not the only one! And what happens to others too …”, in other words, the normalization of experience is what psychotherapy, support groups and thematic lectures give, as well as open, lively and honest communication with other people - and this, in turn, helps to accept one's own imperfection, brings relief, solves issues with shame and pangs of conscience, helps to get out of the fantasy zone into the real world, and see that everything is not so bad …
