Society itself is a complex system in which all its cells are closely interconnected and the effectiveness of a particular person depends on the activities of each of them (how much money he will earn, what kind of relationship he will have, what place in society he will take, how they will be treat, etc.). This is how this systemic formation works, which is a holistic, self-developing social organism, all parts of which interact with each other.
Every minute new people are born in society, who at the beginning of their path do not know either the rules or the laws, and even more so the principles by which the society exists and functions, the process of renewal is continuous. Individuals will have to learn all this knowledge, abilities and skills so that they become independent, self-sufficient, so that they have the opportunity to actively develop, engage in their lives, while somehow interacting with society, and in the future, in turn, they could competently teach a new generation … All people are in this system, but if you look closely, you will notice that someone perfectly fit into it and has all the benefits that the emu needs, and someone barely barely makes ends meet and just “survives”.
The process of assimilation by a person of social norms, cultural values and patterns of behavior of the society to which they belong is socialization. It involves the active participation of a person in the development of the culture of interpersonal relations, in the formation of certain social norms, roles and functions, in the acquisition of skills and abilities necessary for their successful implementation. Socialization includes a person's cognition of social reality, mastering the skills of practical individual and group work, and many other things.
Basically, socialization in society occurs in the direction in which society is developing. For example, if personal freedom is supported in society, then socialization takes place taking into account this priority, i.e. conditions are created that contribute to the formation of individuality, the education of responsibility and independence. This manifests itself in educational institutions, and at work and in the family. Moreover, this model of socialization presupposes the unity of freedom and responsibility.
And vice versa, a person can be so "crushed" from all sides by imposed rules and norms of thinking and behavior that a person becomes just an obedient, weak-willed slave. Where he was told to go, there he goes, what he was told to do, he does.
Socialization of a person continues throughout his life, but this happens especially intensively in his younger years, when the foundation of the psychological development of the individual is being laid. The educational process forms a person's worldview, develops his creative thinking, social activity, the ability to work in a team, the need for self-education, the ability to find a solution in non-standard situations. Or, on the contrary, the habit of avoiding difficulties, infantile character structure, negative thinking and the lack of effective strategies for thinking and behavior.
Social education is of decisive importance for the processes of socialization. Of which there are two main types of socialization:
- primary is the assimilation of norms and values by a child;
- secondary is the assimilation of norms and values by an adult.
In general, the socialization process can be characterized as
- gradual expansion (as the individual acquires social experience) the sphere of his communication, activity and behavior;
- the development of self-regulation and the formation of self-awareness and an active life position.
The family, kindergartens, schools, and various groups act as institutions of socialization. In the process of socialization, a person is enriched with social experience and individualized, becomes a person, acquires the ability and ability to be not only an object, but also a subject of social influences, to influence the socialization of other people.
Let's take a quick look socialization process, it happens in several stages:
- adaptation … This is birth and adolescence. At this stage, imitation is the main mechanism of socialization;
- identification … There is a desire to distinguish oneself from others;
- integration … This is the introduction into the life of society. Integration can go well and poorly, depending on various factors;
- labor stage … A person with his acquired experience influences the world around him (effectively or not - that's another story);
- after labor stage (elderly age). Usually, at this stage, the transfer of social experience to new generations occurs (although it also happens that, in fact, a person has nothing to transfer and that such a scenario would not be necessary to socialize as quickly and efficiently as possible, to understand and use the principles and rules of the social matrix.
Society is not indifferent to how the process of socialization went. If the degree of socialization of a particular individual does not suit society, then society takes measures to isolate this person into a specially created living environment, where his socialization also takes place, but according to other development scenarios. There are some societies that legitimately destroy the individual as not being socialized. Modern society is more humane and understandable that no one and no one destroys anyone, but if a person does not understand effective principles, rules, strategies that must be followed in order to receive social benefits, then everything can end sadly for him.
Various factors influence the socialization process
- biological inheritance - due to this factor, there are differences and variety of character traits and other characteristics;
- physical environment - the process of socialization takes place in all strata of society;
- culture, social environment - on this are reproduced the values to which a given concretely taken society is committed;
- group experience;
- individual experience.
Socialization is a complex, vital process. It depends on it, a person will be able to realize his natural inclinations, reveal his potential and take place as a person, or his life will pass year after year with a taste of bitterness from the fact that a person consciously or unconsciously understands that life is passing by, his talents are not revealed, success and efficiency and does not smell, there is no relationship, no love, no money, no self-esteem either.
All of this can be avoided by knowing and understanding effective strategies for thinking and behaving. There are different ways of effective socialization. You can stuff the bumps yourself, by trial and error. And you can quickly and successfully socialize, having mastered ready-made effective models of thinking and behavior, which make it possible to work less and less over time, and have more and more free time, mental energy and money, using the resources of the social matrix.
That's all. Until next time. Sincerely Dmitry Poteev.
