In 2014, I quit my school where I taught English and started a private teaching practice. At the same time, I studied to be a psychologist (treatment of psychosomatic diseases by means of psychotherapy).

Youth, my personal frivolity, articles on popular psychology merged into one.

I believed that everything would be "chocolate" for me. Since this did not happen then, I want to talk about the bad experiences of changing jobs and the myths about money that I refuted. After all, negative experience teaches much more than positive.

I remember that it was during that period that a wave of articles began on the topic of "comfort zone" and how important it is to get out of it and change your life.

Having received that experience, I can say that now I would not call what I had a comfort zone. And what I changed my life to, I would not designate comfort either.

In my understanding, such a leap that I made was a jump from one abyss to another.

So, myth 1

1. If you love what you do, then you will always have money

When I left, I thought that I would have a sea of students - because I love what I do and "proved" to the Universe that I do what I want, I live "my" life.

No, I had students. But there were periods when I was sorely lacking students. The lack of a financial cushion was the reason for my discomfort. Because I was not prepared for a sharp change in the format of work.

Because I succumbed to the influence of the ideology "do what you love and everything will work out."

Now I have already understood: in order to avoid changing one type of discomfort to another, you need to prepare thoroughly. And love alone is not enough.

I would even say that love is not the most important ingredient. Do your job efficiently - and no one will question you, doubt whether you love your job or not.

2. Myth 2

If you treat yourself with love - buy the best, you will attract more money into your life.

And if you save money, you can "scare away" money energy.

For some reason, this is a very common myth. Buy only high quality, buy expensive.

I am sure this principle works. But only at a higher level of the money game. When buying a more expensive product or service is commensurate with your income. If it makes a hole in your budget, then live within your means.

The golden rule is that income should always be higher than expenses, and the difference should be postponed. This streamlines your financial life very well and allows you not to make irrational spending.

Even a large investment in education may not pay off at all. Or pay off badly. Not everything is of high quality that is expensive. And quality can be inexpensive.

Therefore, you should not risk and expose yourself to additional stress by buying expensive things.

3. No magic rituals in relation to money have worked for me, and I don't want to check it anymore

But I know for sure that I, like others who want to increase their income, are hindered by outdated beliefs about money. These beliefs are firmly embedded in our heads. And only working through them helps me to see the personal responsibility for my handling of finances.

And the rituals from the series "whisper to the moon" or "throw red panties on the chandelier" I consider a sign of psychological immaturity.

4. Often, the amount of spending is associated with unbearable emotions that you want to avoid (sadness, anger, fear, shame) and a person finds comfort in buying something. As an alcoholic, drug addict or person with an eating disorder. Hence the desire to "drain" the money. From the unbearable tension that arises when they are.

5. Despite the negative experience gained, I believe that with the right preparation, private practice can be one of the pleasant and comfortable sources of income

It is also an excellent diagnosis of professional skills and your inner state.

When you work on your own, people come if they feel that you have the energy, strength to work, if you do this work efficiently. And if you know how to sell and promote your services.

And if you work in an office, then all this is not visible. After all, there is no need to look for clients, sick leave is paid, a little fatigue does not affect the salary - you just need to take a responsible approach to solving the tasks.

Therefore, I cannot advise you whether or not to escape from the office. I can only share my experience. And wish you success in any case.

Whatever you choose, there is always an opportunity for growth and development. Both professionally and financially.
