When we get a job, go through a trial period and get fixed in some enterprise, we begin to forget that we also chose this place of work.

Not only we are chosen, we also choose. It is important to remember this!

Over time, rooted in the workplace, we find ourselves in a kind of manipulation. The scariest word for us becomes "you are fired", or "we will have to say goodbye to you." We hold on to some kind of stability, but by doing this we drive ourselves into a certain dead end. How?

  • We are afraid to defend our borders. They put a lot of work on us, and we take it and work for two. A shortage of personnel is very common. And it's not a matter of human performance, but the fact that companies save on people. We can be motivated with words of recognition, probable future movement, with the words “I have no concept of being in time in the company”, or “there are no irreplaceable people”. The task of the middle manager and the leader is to squeeze our productivity out of us as much as possible. Therefore, everything and even pressure on our weak sides will be used.
  • We believe that our weaknesses interfere with the work process. But we are not robots and not universal soldiers. We cannot perform all functions. We have the ability, experience and knowledge only for certain things. The employer's wisdom lies in the fact that he selects the team in such a way that employees complement each other, are mutually supportive. And besides, we are hired based on strengths and weaknesses, and the emphasis is not on character, but on experience, knowledge and achievements. Even the tests that people pass during the interview do not relate to character and the identification of abilities and strengths, but to check stress resistance and perception.
  • We believe that we are not as valuable to the employer as he is to us. We forget that work is a contract with 2 parties. And this contract is beneficial to both parties. Just as we need a workplace, employers need employees. If our experience, abilities, knowledge and we as a person did not fit the leader, he would not have hired us. But we forget that we are also needed in this workplace and allow ourselves to be manipulated, fearing to be left without work. This is not a one-sided game. Just as work is important to us, and this place of work, so we are important to our employers.

What to do?

  • In fact, this is your inner attitude. First of all, you must outline for yourself those boundaries beyond which the employer should not step up and voice them. I am telling you as a person who has worked for over 9 years in the corporate business. There is a very huge risk of being swallowed up for a penny.
  • Don't assume that everything depends on the employer. Yes, that's how they behave. But you can always change jobs. And there are those who respect employees. If you are hanged to work for two, then this should be compensated financially.
  • Look at your fears and inner blocks. Why do you agree to what the manager tells you and what he obliges you.

In my opinion, the first and last point is the most important in this.
