How do our beliefs affect feelings and how they are expressed? Do feelings change under the influence of beliefs?
Our beliefs affect our feelings. A person interacts with the world through sensations - this is how we receive signals from real life (through eyes, ears, scent, etc.). We see something or hear something, then the signal enters our brain, passing through the perception formed by past experience. For example, if I see a mug with steam, I can get scared if I burned myself before (hot tea / coffee). Accordingly, I have an understanding when I see a mug with steam that it is hot, and the reaction is either pleasant or unpleasant. If I am cold, there is a need to warm up, a pleasant sensation will arise. If the heat outside is + 60 ° C in the sun, we will look at the mug with some hostile feelings.
So, if I have an ingrained belief that hot tea is good, I will always enjoy looking at it. If there is a conviction that hot tea is not worth drinking there, because … - there will be corresponding feelings.
Feelings change under the influence of beliefs, and this is how we change our perception of the world, our attitude to it. In many ways, the results in our life depend on the reaction that we give out to certain life events. For example, quarantine - someone perceived the situation with pain (“I won't be able to work for a month or two!”), Someone was relieved (“Finally, I’ll rest!”), Someone was able to perceive this as an opportunity for additional training and growth, to change jobs, and someone went into depression ("That's it, my life ended at this place!"). And all this directly affects further results - how we will live further when the quarantine is over. As a rule, this perception also hides a belief or previous experience that influenced the perception of the situation as a whole.
