And the person as a whole is like a machine that should work without failures, and if something does not work out the first time, the mechanism is defective.

Actually, it is precisely this idea that often lies in the prohibition of new experience. Either the tasks were once overwhelming. Or the cost of the mistake was too high. Either a new experience was required "from the outside" - for example, by parents, teachers or superiors, but at the same time it was not the experience that makes life "better", that is, it did not "increase the degree of freedom," but limited it. The price of the experience was too high, and the value for a particular individual was too small, and exhaustion set in. The simplest example is the total burnout of athletes who were sent to professional sports at an early age. Not all athletes give up sports, become disillusioned with themselves and people, lose the meaning of life at a young age, but those who have violated one or all of the conditions for gaining experience. And even very successful athletes are not immune from this, if, instead of increasing the degree of freedom, "I can do what I like and one of these activities - sport" gets a restriction - "sport is all that I can do, I had to give up a lot for him, sport is my whole life."
