It seems to me that this topic is more important than any methods and techniques because it teaches the main thing - the very strategy for achieving outstanding results. A very small percentage of people achieve any kind of success in life. Among these people, an even smaller percentage will achieve outstanding results. It is clear that successful people have knowledge, motivation, and often, moreover, resources for this. But how do you use all this in order to plan the fastest progress? And why do some people do it, while others do not?

Perhaps one of the most important qualities of a successful person is the ability to sacrifice little in order to get a lot. This behavior is very difficult to learn. Most often, a successful person can limit himself in something (sacrifice). For me, this quality has always been associated with successful hunters who appeared at the dawn of the evolution of homo sapiens.

After all, what is hunting? This is the process of pursuing the desired goal. This goal can be anything from an animal in order to feed the village, to a champion title or the ability to solve equations of the third degree. At the moment, a person does not have what he wants to receive. And so he starts hunting in order to get it. Moreover, the "more dangerous a beast" is, the more difficult it is to hunt for it. It's easy to catch a partridge or learn the multiplication table. But in order to catch a mammoth or become a doctor of mathematical sciences, you need a very "long" and "dexterous" hunt, limiting yourself in many ways.

But in life there are both successful hunters who are able to provide the whole village with meat for the winter, and there are losers who cannot even catch one ferret in a snare. What do you think is the main difference between them.

Obviously, the one who hunts better is more experienced. He knows what needs to be done in order to get the desired result. He is ready to sit in the cold mud for days, waiting for the necessary meat at the watering hole. He is ready to sacrifice his comfort, time and even health in order to achieve the desired result. What does a loser do? He doesn't sacrifice much! He wants everything at once! He breaks straight through the forest, scaring away all the living creatures, because he does not want to sacrifice his time and comfort. As a result, his achievements are minimal! If they exist at all. And the achievements of an experienced hunter are maximum, because he is ready to sacrifice a little in order to get a lot.

This applies to absolutely all areas of life. The guy who worked in high school, and did not waste time on empty entertainment (sacrificing "the joys of life") will buy himself a car sooner. The person who was in business, and did not work for a guaranteed salary in the office (sacrificed peace of mind), will earn his million earlier. Each of them is, first of all, a hunter who set priorities and realized in time that nothing just happens in this life. You have to pay for everything. And if you want a serious result in any business, then be ready for sacrifices to achieve it. And be prepared to wait patiently.

The ability to sacrifice and the ability to wait are the hallmarks of a successful hunter!

Without these qualities, he turns into a bad hunter who stupidly walk through the forest in the hope of stumbling upon game. The same will not happen! In order to fill up a serious game, you need to hide, sacrifice time and comfort. You need to make an ambush and freeze in it for a day, and sometimes more. Victims are needed! Otherwise, you will never catch anything serious. But I really don't want to freeze and waste time waiting in ambush. I want everything at once: bang and with the prey! But it doesn't work that way. This is why most hunters are losers. And only those who are willing to sacrifice achieve success.

Take learning a new profession, for example.

James Altusher writes in his article that the time it will take to re-create oneself is five years and gives the following description of them.

  • First year: you read everything and just start doing something.
  • Year Two: You know who you need to talk to and maintain working relationships. You do something every day. You finally understand what the map of your own game of "Monopoly" looks like.
  • Year Three: You are good enough to start making money. But for now, perhaps not enough to make a living.
  • Year 4: You provide yourself well.
  • Year Five: You are making a fortune.

Let's not figure out whether these are exact numbers in years or conditional. It is important that the first time is the preparation of both the sacrifice and the time and energy so that in the future it will be possible to achieve a result! It's like hunting an animal: at first you are preparing an ambush or a trap that the animal may fall into! If this is not done, then the chances of a result tend to zero.

A small parable for illustration.

One day, two of the best woodcutters in the country decided to determine which of them is a great professional. They argued for a decent amount of money. They decided to work in different parts of the forest, located not far from each other for 5 hours.

At first, the first lumberjack did not hear that number two was chopping wood. He was glad that the second was inactive and increased his chances of winning. He heard the sound of his ax an hour later.

This went on all day until the loggers heard the signal to end the competition. Imagine the surprise of the first lumberjack when he learned that his rival had cut down many more trees during this time.

- How could it have happened? - he was surprised - You started working an hour later. How did you manage to chop more wood than me? It’s impossible, you’ve worked less.

“It's very simple,” the second lumberjack replied. “In the first hour I sharpened my ax.

At the beginning of yours, you need to do not what you want, but what you need to achieve in the future! To do this, you need to donate:

  • Time (to set a trap, sit hungry in an ambush)
  • Vanity (look weaker, stupider, etc. than you really are)
  • Desires (get it all fast)

Remember that the hunter knows how to wait and push his desires! Do not give in to your desires to do what you want in order to get the result as quickly as possible. Easy and fast paths always lead to failure, because they do not take into account the universal law of conservation of energy: nothing just happens!

This is something that 90% of newbies don't do. And that's why 90% of people do little.

The patient hunter has completely suppressed his vanity. He doesn't care what others think about him when he prepares to master a new business. Think he's stupid? It's funny to him. Because it is like considering a hunter lurking in a forest ambush to be cowardly. The result is important, not your own petty desires. Or, even more so, the opinions of other people.

The hunter knows that the hunt itself will come after the preparation, when he will catch much more game than all the other losers around. He completely controls this process. To do this, he keeps a diary in which he plans. After each trip to the forest, he goes to him: record a new record and see how much he needs to do on the next trip! He spends time and energy on this, while the majority around does nothing of the kind. But the majority are losers. Therefore, the hunter is not embarrassed by such a waste of time and energy. He sees that the goal is getting closer. This calms him down and teaches him patience!

Remember that a successful hunter knows how to wait and push his desires! He sacrifices little in order to get a lot. Understand this. Feel this. Realize. And then all the doors of the world will collapse before your desires!

And remember, we all descend from those early successful hunters. We are their descendants, which means we can develop all the qualities necessary for a successful hunt.
