While working with a client, I noticed that his attention from time to time seems to be scattered, despite the fact that this client is usually concentrated in the process.

Having taken an interest, I found out that one forthcoming meeting takes away my thoughts. The details of the meeting are not very important; what is important is that the client felt that the meeting was almost doomed.

After discussing a little, it turned out that the described event had occupied thoughts for several days, it was impossible not to go.

So step 1.

I suggested that the client look on the timeline to see what the upcoming event looks like in the future (image # 1). It turned out to be a gray dirty spot, the approach of which intensified negative feelings.

After talking a little more, it turned out that the client did not have any goals of his own for the meeting, all were strangers.

Step 2.

I suggested taking the event, desired in the future, as a template (image # 2). It turned out to be pleasant colors for the client (yellow, blue, green), the image had a clear structure (size, dynamics), and when approached, it evoked pleasant feelings.

Step 3.

Reducing the structure of image No. 1 to the structure of image No. 2.

The whole work took about 7 minutes.

The meeting took place, the client really had a good time there, and waiting for this meeting did not become an increasing discomfort.

Where else can this mini-technique be useful?

For example, at work there is a part of the functionality that causes negative emotions, but you have to do it.

You can change the idea of this functionality, and this will change the attitude.

Also homework: washing dishes, cleaning, helping the child to do homework … But you never know what activities that need to be done cause negativity.
