All In Your Hands?
All In Your Hands?

One man decided to test the sage. He caught the butterfly, held it between his palms and asked:

- Tell the sage, is the butterfly alive or dead?

The sage suspected a trick on the part of the man. He realized that no matter how he answered, the questioner would either crush the butterfly or release it, and replied:

- Everything is in your hands, man.

All in your hands

Is that all? There are different points of view on what and on whom depends in our life. We will touch on two of them, the most common.

Consider the first point of view, which reads - "Make fun of God by telling him about your plans" or "You will not get away from fate."

In today's world, filled with esoteric books and films such as The Secret, the proclamation has become fashionable: everything in the world depends on how you ask. That is, it all depends on our thoughts and beliefs.

And if earlier people asked for mercy from the gods, now these intermediaries are pushed aside, and you need to ask immediately directly from the Universe or the Universe. At the same time, it is imperative to believe that they are abundant, wise and kind and that they hear you perfectly and - what is important - they want to help you. And then you will get whatever you want.

Now imagine yourself in the place of the Universe. And now you receive a hundred thousand orders to marry the princess of Monaco. Orders are one hundred thousand, and the princess is one. And what will you do in the place of the universe so as not to lose your reputation for abundance and omnipotence?

Well, or a million orders to become the world champion in boxing or figure skating? And if a hundred thousand princesses can still be born, then a million people will not be able to become a champion. Because a champion is one, that's why he is a champion.

What about money? Wealth is not an absolute value, but a relative one. In one African country, after it was liberated from the colonial yoke, as a result of superinflation, all residents of this country became at least billionaires within a year. But they did not become richer from this …

And now five billion people are asking the universe for wealth.

They ask the way the movie The Secret taught them, and what should she do?

To act like the government of the above-described African country: to give everyone a billion dollars? May everyone become billionaires, and everyone will be happy.

Simply put, in order for someone to be rich, someone has to be poor. Therefore, the Universe constantly, as it were, needs to decide: who to make rich, whom to become a champion, and who to become an outsider, although everyone is asking for almost the same thing.

And here already, apparently, various correct and even secret techniques of influencing the Universe appear. And its intermediaries also appear, who for a moderate fee, and sometimes not very moderate, promise to transfer this knowledge to you, and at the same time organize the protection of the Universe.

And this is not devoid of logic, since we, having received our light, begin to understand that a billion is, of course, good, but only when you have it, while others do not. And if everyone knows how to get it, then there is no sense in such knowledge. Although, as an option, you can try to transfer this knowledge to others and, of course, not for free.

In general, this point of view can be summed up as follows:

It all depends on someone, ask and it will be given to you!

Another point of view tells us that man is the creator of his own destiny

And everything depends only on him alone, and not on fate, not on other people and various circumstances, social cataclysms or the will of the gods and the Universe.

And even if you were born in the thirties in Germany into a Jewish family and the fact that you ended up in a concentration camp is your fault, it is your own fault. After all: "Man himself is the creator of his own destiny."

Or if you find yourself on the beach during a tsunami, it is because somewhere deep down you yourself desired this and strove for it. Because everything is in your hands!

These two views appear to us as two extremes, although they speak of the same thing. There is still such a thing, but we will not consider it: If something good happens, it’s all thanks to our efforts, well, and if it’s bad, then it is, of course, fate.

So what depends on us and what does not?

What can we influence and what does not lend itself to our control?

In our view, the model that is closest to reality, which can be expressed with the following metaphor:

Our life is like a river.

The circumstances of our life are various manifestations of the river: driftwood, rapids, shoals …

We are like a person sailing in a boat on this river. We cannot change the depth, width, flow of the river, remove waterfalls and cancel driftwood passing by. But we can interact with them. We can learn to overcome waterfalls, bypass driftwood and shallows.

Supporters of the first theory want to change the river itself, while the second think that it depends only on them how many waterfalls and snags will be on their way. Neither one nor the other is rational.

It depends on us which boat we travel along the river of life.

What tools does it have for a comfortable journey.

Perhaps you got a leaky boat from birth, so what? It is in your power to fix it, put a motor on it, and maybe buy a yacht.

It is also in your power to bypass dangerous areas - well, and where it did not work out, dust yourself off and swim further. Someone lowers the oars and floats with the flow, and someone, competently working with an oar, with a song and with pleasure travels through life. And they are the ones who can say at the end of the journey: "It was a fascinating journey of a lifetime!"

In our opinion, it is unreasonable to expect that someone (gods) will remove all "snags" from the road, or to think that we ourselves create them. It's better to just be ready to meet them, and even find ways to use them in your life. As Dale Carnegie advised in this case - "make your lemonade out of them."
