We are women - creatures with a changeable character, which opens up many interesting possibilities and ways of behavior for us. But especially our personality traits are manifested during the period of premenstrual syndrome. Someone came up with a whole name for this condition, which is sometimes also called a diagnosis, but I will call this period time to know yourself. Why? Therefore, it is during this period that a woman is most sensitive and has the opportunity to know herself more deeply.
Today we will talk about the feeling of your body, and the desire to eat a lot of delicious food during this period.
What are the reasons for overeating during PMS?
Usually, when a woman is in good health (physically and emotionally), she pays attention to such areas of her life as taking care of family and friends, managing a business, arranging everyday life in the house and a bunch of various things. Your needs usually fade into the background. It is not only about taking care of yourself, but also about accepting that concern from others.
As my therapeutic experience with clients shows, the more we “screwed up” in feeling during a month, and earlier, the more PMS symptoms will appear. Our body says “TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF”: lie down, rest, eat something tasty.
Important: PMS symptoms may not be present! A whole system of selling painkillers is built on the myth of PMS and painful periods, so now this condition is declared as a matter of course.
Also, seizing during this period is typical for girls and women who have a conflict in the maternal sphere. For example, there is a readiness (physiological and emotional) in order to conceive and give birth to a child, but there are also fears, social pressure, which say “it’s too early,” “you cannot give this to the child yet,” “you do not have quality men for the family”, etc. And only after eating a kilogram of hamburgers and drinking a liter of cola can you calm down your contradictions, feel the fullness that pregnancy gives, applying for this an acceptable way for you - to eat.
What not to do?
Do you have a desire to “eat an elephant”, but do you want to keep yourself in shape and deny yourself goodies? But you don't need to do this. After all, you now already have emotional stress, and fighting with yourself, with your desires, you only aggravate it, and as a result, you are angry, irritable, not loving yourself and everyone else. And what is interesting, by denying yourself a cookie today, you run the risk of eating a whole cologram in a couple of hours, days. And then what? Feeling of guilt, even greater rejection of oneself, anger at everyone and everything.
What can you do then?
I offer you the simplest tips to help you make friends with yourself these days and help you feel your body and nutritional needs.
- Pamper yourself. Buy yourself a new lipstick or go to the salon. When to be dissatisfied with yourself, when you are so beautiful.
- Allow yourself some tasty treats. We feel the taste of food for only a couple of minutes, this is how long your enjoyment continues. If you do not get pleasure from this, and you still want to “eat”, we are talking about neurotic overeating. You won't get fat by enjoying a serving of ice cream, so why not enjoy life. If you want to eat further, from me the following advice.
- Walk. You can define your goal. For example, find the perfect shelf for the kitchen and walk all day looking for it, or just take a walk (you can even have coffee). We know that while walking, calories are consumed, so you don't need to blame yourself for the ice cream. In addition, seizing may indicate the need to feel your body, to find contact with it. Here's walking, too, is a surefire way to get it.
- Have a hobby day. This is a day for you when you can be with yourself, feel your personal boundaries, realize your creative potential.
- Have a “day of the seal”. This is what my girlfriends say, denoting the day when you just lie there and do nothing, letting go of all responsibilities. Rest day just for you. Not for household chores, but for you.
