Imagine a person comes to a psychologist and says:
"I hate myself, I hate my weakness and indecision!"
And the psychologist answered him:
"So this is great!" …
Sounds wild? However, this is the case. "Come on!" - you say, - “Psychologists teach you to love yourself, to accept yourself as you are. So, hating yourself is bad! " Have you tried to follow this recommendation - "accept yourself"? It's not that easy. Often, it seems that these are just general phrases, a kind of "blah-blah-blah" that a specialist says when he does not know what to do. One senses in this some kind of falsity … Emptiness … Why is that? Perhaps because the picture is not complete. Attention is focused only on the positive side. But in life there is no only positive, or only negative. Life processes are holistic. Life and death, victory and defeat are intertwined. It is easy to accept yourself when you are young, healthy, wealthy, in love and loved. And if not so young? If you can barely make ends meet? Health is playing pranks, but in relationships there is an eternal "cold war"? How to accept this? See hate knocking on our door again? So let's let her in! Let's show her respect. Let's start accepting ourselves by allowing ourselves to hate ourselves.
What for? There is a lot of power in hatred, it is foolish to refuse such a powerful battery. Sometimes, she - hatred, comes to our aid, even without our knowledge. Then we begin to change our lives, break off painful relationships, put the body in order, and by clenching our teeth, we achieve our goals. One of the ways of motivation is built on this. I like the phrase of Artemy Lebedev: “How to motivate yourself? No way! Sit in the ass! . Rough, but sometimes effective. The only pity is that this method is not suitable for everyone.
Personally, in my practice, I often see a different picture. A person despises himself and from this he feels even weaker … He is so immersed in the feeling of his own worthlessness that he does not notice the powerful force that constantly knocks into awareness - delightful, furious hatred. The next practice is just for those who do not see the available sources of improving themselves and their lives and punish themselves for this. Among other things, it will be useful for those who have only a little dissatisfaction with themselves.
- What are you dissatisfied with in yourself? Make a list or essay anything that you might berate yourself for.
- Start blaming yourself on the list. It is more convenient to write an accusatory speech on paper first, but if you are lazy, improvise out loud.
- Inflame your self-loathing. Make it extremely powerful and vibrant. You will notice that your body is energized. Breathing changes, muscles tense, waves of heat or cold pass through the body.
- Ask yourself the question: "Who is blaming?" You will be surprised, but perhaps you realize that for a while you have become the complete opposite of your everyday life. Or maybe you will feel like a beast, or a magical creature, who knows? Any look will do.
- Move like this "accuser". Walk, gesture, shout, swear! Express with your body and voice the energy that wanders in the body!
- Let this energy fill you. Feel it in your body, imagine how it looks, hear its sound, smell it, catch the rhythm of its movements. Go to its source, what was it before it became hate?
- When you go to the source of this energy, you will gain access to those qualities that you could not previously manifest in your life. Look from this experience at your everyday life and tell yourself some simple and unambiguous phrase. She will be the "password" that will allow you to implement those strengths that were dormant beyond your awareness.
- Imagine how you begin to implement the qualities you have found. What new opportunities will open up for you? How will your quality of life change? Write down the answers you received, otherwise they will disappear, like a dream that is forgotten a second after waking up.
- Start to translate the found qualities into simple and ordinary things. Walking, talking, cleaning the house. Watch your quality of life change.
As you can see, self-loathing is most often the unconscious force that we lack in order to feel more whole, capable of changing our lives. It can be destructive if left unnoticed. But it is worth showing respect for it, as it turns into the ability to create, to bring something new. She's beautiful, isn't she?
