How often do you choose not yourself?
❌ For example, when you want to lie at home with a book on the couch, and friends or relatives come to you unexpectedly.
And now your chosen vacation is postponed.
Relax, following the wishes of your friends.
❌ Or when you want to go for a walk after work or go to the cinema with a friend, but the boss asks you to finish the report not tomorrow, but today.
❌ Or when you feel unwell, but still go to work.
You drink painkillers, wanting to hide your well-being.
❌ Or, when you want to be alone and not communicate with anyone, but someone close needs you to listen to him.
Someone might say - normal situations.
If you always choose what you wanted, then it is very selfish.
Yes, of course, situations are different and it would be nice to be flexible, making decisions based on the situation.
But, nevertheless, first of all, it is important to consider your needs.
What if this is a familiar behavior strategy?
What if devaluing your wants and needs is a systematic process?
Then, sooner or later, you can face such consequences as:
1. Feeling of pressure from others and fantasy - everyone wants something from me, but I can no longer bear it.
2. Lack of desire to do anything, unwillingness to act at all.
3. Increased activity that does not lead to results, investing strength and energy in something that does not bring pleasure.
4. Feeling of powerlessness and passivity in relation to emerging difficulties, inability to take responsibility and bear it.
How to prevent the consequences of devaluation of your desires and needs?
✅ Learn to notice this process inside and mark its frequency.
✅ Learn to feel your needs and take care of their satisfaction.
✅ Ask for outside help if it is difficult to cope with it yourself.
If it was helpful to you, let me know! 👏
I wish you care for yourself and respect for your needs.
