From the author: As a leadership coach, several years ago I came to the conviction that it is possible in any manager to reveal his hidden potential as a leader, and after many years of successful work, I decided to draw up a Memo "How to Become a Leader".

Today we will talk about our desires, fears and the role of a coach in achieving success.

Part 13. Our Desires, Fears, and Success

What do we desire the most?

  • Confessions
  • Support
  • Praises
  • Admiration
  • Of money
  • Seductive situations
  • Entertainment
  • Pleasures

What are we afraid of?

  • Rejection
  • Punishments
  • Disrespect
  • Compliance with the rules
  • Disciplines
  • Pain
  • Guilt
  • Shame
  • Loneliness
  • Ambient pressure
  • Condemnation of others
  • When they laugh at us
  • Of fear

In an effort to achieve our desires and overcome our fears, we spend a lot of energy and strength. We make mistakes all the time, failures follow us. How do we achieve a state of success in business and personal life?

Here, I am sure, the role of a coach, a psychologist can be decisive:

  • for some of us, the coach becomes a mentor who listens to our thoughts, problems, discusses with us ways to solve them.
  • for some, the coach becomes a consultant-advisor who draws us into the analysis of the situation, helps us understand what is happening and why.
  • A coach is an assistant and moderator of our inner personalities of a strategist-dreamer and a boring performer.
  • a coach can help integrate our strengths and minimize our weaknesses.
  • even the most ingenious athlete will not be able to achieve great heights in victories without his coach.
  • it will be very difficult for us to become a leader without our own coach-coach.

In cooperation with a coach, preferably with a psychological education and successful business experience:

  • we begin to cope with challenges of any level;
  • we get better faster;
  • we become authors and directors of our lives.

… I have a client. Let's call her Maria. She is very talented, hardworking, well educated. Her requests were - to make a career and get married. Before joining me, she held one position as head of the commercial sector in a very famous large corporation for 8 years. For 8 months of our work, Maria took the position of Deputy Head of the Commercial Department. Today, after another 10 months, she will be appointed to the position of Commercial Director - Head of the Commercial Department. In her personal life, she also made progress: her chosen one is a Muscovite who very successfully took place in business in one of the European countries. They recently had an engagement, and a wedding is expected in the fall.

Another client of mine, Dmitry (name has been changed - author's note), the general director of the company, could not agree on a motivation system with the owners for six months. In the course of our work, he signed a motivation system and after another 6 months he received an annual bonus in the amount of 60,000 euros.

It has been 15 years since I started working as a coach and psychoanalyst.

Impossible for others will soon become possible for you

Let's continue.
