Love is a difficult concept to explain, because each of us brings something of our own to the experience of love, which can be very different from the experience of love by others.

Nevertheless, "love" is one of the most studied and researched concepts.

Even the ancient Greeks, taking into account the difference and complexity of the experience of this feeling by each individual person, distinguished several types of love: eros, storge, ludus, filia, mania, pragma, agape.

The famous love researcher John Alan Lee compared different types of love with a color spectrum and created a "color theory of love", where each type was assigned a certain color.

In his opinion, there are three main styles of love (by analogy with the color spectrum, where there are three primary colors).

Ideally, the "colors" of love of partners should match and complement each other, because only in this case understanding and harmony will reign in the relationship.

Before I give a description of each type of love, I suggest you go through author's test visualization "What color is your love?"

In the format of an article, this test will be more "playful" for you, but still.

Try to relax and imagine the person you feel love for.

Imagine that your love for him is a ball that you hold in your hands.

Take a good look at it. What colour is he? Or maybe there are several shades?

Remember this color or colors.

Now imagine a person who loves you.

Imagine that this person also has a ball in their hands.

See what color it is? Maybe there are several colors and shades?

Remember this color or colors.

Now interpretation.

Red is eros

This style of love is characterized by strong physical attraction. At first, with such love, the partner is perceived as ideal. But erotic love itself is often short-lived.

Yellow is storge

It is love that often arises from friendship and develops into deep affection. This style of love is characterized by partners' sincere sympathy for each other.

Blue is ludus

Love is a game. Adherents of this style of love do not devote their lives to one partner. They are "vagabonds" in life. This is love without promises and obligations. With this style, love is played as if it were some kind of exciting game or as if they were participating in some kind of competition.

The color purple is mania

Love is an obsession. With this style, there are very strong emotional ups and downs, strong jealousy and pronounced possessiveness towards the partner.

This style of love arises from the combination of eros and ludus (red and blue). This love is also called "crazy love", it is a very dependent, controlling love.

Green is pragma

It is conscious love (as far as love can be conscious), practical and rational.

This style arises from a combination of ludus and storge (blue and yellow). The qualities of the right partner are thought out in advance, and then a real person is selected for them.

With this style of love, the expectations from the relationship are carefully considered, they are weighed for a long time and they are very realistic.

Orange is agape

This is sacrificial, selfless love. It occurs with a combination of eros and storge (red and yellow colors). With this style of love, a person experiences an all-consuming and disinterested feeling.

In each individual case, love, of course, will be decorated with special colors and shades. And the "color theory of love" can be a small clue to a better understanding of yourself and your partner.

Love you and harmony in a relationship!
