Many parents think that cognitive activity is something that is inherent in the child, and at the moment when he goes to school, he will study with interest and joy. But they are wrong. Cognitive activity is something that needs to be developed from birth so that a child goes to school with a high level of motivation. Curiosity and interest in the world are inherent in every baby from birth. The main thing is to preserve and not spill this interest by the age of 7-10-15.
What can be done?
Show the world to the childtaking him in your arms. Show how this or that toy turns on, let you know “what's inside it,” let it be worth breaking it. Show different objects and tell what they are for. Show the grown-up child the world of insects by sitting next to him and observing their life and much, much more.
Comment on your actions ("Now we will go outside, put on a jacket and boots, look what shiny boots you have, and what do we have on them? Let's look together, oh, mushrooms, etc."). The more he will notice around him, the more interesting it will be for him.
Do not overlook any of the child's questions. If a child asks a question, you have two options: either answer it, but here you will be faced with an endless string of follow-up questions. Or redirect the question to the child: “WHY DO YOU THINK, WHY?”. It is on this question that the cognitive activity of the child is turned on. He begins to think, and, really, why? And even if his answer is not correct, or he will not immediately find an answer to it, but he will try, and this effort to "get to the bottom of the truth" is a real treasure. There are difficult questions that parents must answer (these are questions of death, love, values, etc.).
Try to develop your child in all directions. Listen to the voices in the forest and on the city streets, pay attention to interesting things around (an interesting tree, a beautiful cat), ask different questions yourself, share your experience, sculpt, paint, try new dishes, visit different places with your child. Let the child have more than just books or dolls. Toys should be different too. All of this enriches the child's experience.
Maintain your child's interest in a business or subject. Cognitive activity cannot be developed if parents prevent it. "Don't touch, don't walk, don't do it, I'll do it myself, you're still little …". If the child is drawn to some object, pick it up, consider it together, tell about it. Satisfy the child's interest in this subject. If he wants to help you do something: cook, clean, do not hinder it. If he wants to paint, give him complete freedom of expression (let it be “kalya-malia” at first) and do not forget to praise for the efforts made.
Ask your child a question every day.: how was your day? What was new and interesting for you? This will help him structure everything that he has learned, what he has learned this day, and you will help keep his interest in life and trust at a high level.
All in your hands!
