These conditions are called panic attacks. Treatment of panic attacks with medications, as a rule, is ineffective, since medications only temporarily relieve symptoms, not helping to deal with the psychological causes of panic attacks. Panic attacks - these are sudden outbreaks of anxiety, which are accompanied by attacks of fear, palpitations, a feeling of lack of air, trembling, weakness, feeling of heat or cold. As a rule, panic attacks occur suddenly, without any visible prerequisites for this. Various types of phobias can join panic attacks, which will subsequently trigger panic attacks.

Doctors attribute panic attacks to a sudden burst of large amounts of adrenaline into the bloodstream. But, unfortunately or fortunately, modern medicine at the moment does not have the ability to cure panic attacks with medication. All drugs recommended by doctors only temporarily relieve symptoms or reduce the intensity of panic attacks. That is why psychological help and psychotherapy are the most effective for panic attacks.

If you look at panic attacks from a psychological point of view, you will notice that panic attacks often start in those people who suppress their emotions, restrain their manifestation, and often step over themselves. This is due to the fact that unmanifest emotions do not go anywhere, but accumulate and wait in the wings to break out in the form of a panic attack. Therefore, the main task of psychotherapy in panic attacks is to understand the unconscious causes of their occurrence and work it out so that the symptoms go away on their own.

Unlike “quick” symptomatic therapy, which relieves symptoms with medication or NLP (neurolinguistic programming) techniques, psychotherapeutic work on the unconscious causes of panic attacks can take from several months to a year.

Why is this and why is it necessary? To answer this question more clearly, I will cite a metaphor here. If a branch is cut off a disease tree, several more will grow in its place. But if you dig up and chop down its roots, it will dry out on its own, the branches will not even need to be touched. It's the same with our psyche.

If you remove a symptom in any way without working out its cause, then the symptom will either return in the same form after some time, or another symptom will appear (for example, psychosomatic: headaches or nausea), which will signal the presence of that problem. which was the cause of the panic attacks. Therefore, when the first manifestations of panic attacks appear, it is best to immediately seek the advice of a psychologist and begin to undergo a course of psychotherapy.

At the initial stages of psychotherapy, a fairly quick relief of the condition can be achieved, but here it is important to remember that the main goal of psychotherapy is to help the client realize the cause and change the structure of internal relationships and conflicts that leads to panic attacks.
