Food is different, food has different functions for a person, and the process of eating has many secondary benefits.
For example, there is food that should satisfy the stomach. Usually a small portion of food is enough for this purpose - and, moreover, a very simple meal. A plate of lettuce, cottage cheese with sour cream, or some fruit. In principle, this is sufficient for the stomach.
But! There is food that performs completely different functions: for example, food for the company, eating to kill time, eating to calm nervousness, eating to bring the family together at the table, eating to have fun.
These habits - eating in order to get something (except, of course, satisfying hunger, for which food is needed) - are often formed in childhood, from parents and grandparents (who, by the way, remember hunger firsthand), and so Further.
Later, these habits are overgrown with additional benefits.
For example, stuffing your stomach with food while watching TV is not only an opportunity to have fun, but also an opportunity to save yourself from the need to get up from the couch and do something (because with a full stomach, you can go to bed).
Or the whole family gets together just to sit at the table and have a delicious meal. Cancel the feast - and people will have no reason to get together.
Any habit - the moment it is formed - has a positive intention. For example, my grandmother was very happy when her granddaughter ate a lot. Here is the granddaughter and ate. To please my grandmother. Then this process of eating a large amount of food was overgrown with secondary benefits: for example, in order to enjoy yourself, you do not need to go to people, communicate, etc. - eat well enough. Why bother?
There can be many examples. Everyone has their own. There is no need to try on the benefits that I have listed. You have them, most likely, different.
And then the excess weight itself becomes overgrown with secondary benefits. This is a wonderful thinking "I will love myself (walk in the evenings, communicate with people, etc.) when I drop so much." That is, now I do not like myself, I am too lazy to walk in the evenings, communication skills are at zero - but as soon as I lose the damned weight, everything will be decided. By itself. Magic pill. Don't dare? Here is the damn weight)

Therefore, weight and food are not easy topics to study, and at the same time very interesting. You can dig up there if you try)
