Fear of Public Speaking: Exercises and Ways to Overcome
I decided to share my thoughts and feelings, perhaps godfather, they will also be understandable and useful?
I have no fear of speaking, as such, I am quite easy, I get out of difficult situations, I can find spontaneous solutions. But I have a fear of evaluating my appearance!
I do not hide the fact that I have difficulties with being overweight and after a very long treatment I gained 30 extra pounds, which, alas, have not yet been corrected with proper nutrition! Anyone who is familiar with the problem of excess weight knows how great is the condemnation in society of people who fail to get back to normal!
Most often they are accused of gluttony and laziness, without considering deeper reasons, such as:
- Metabolic disorders
- Genetics
- Psychosomatics
In fact, there are many more reasons for being overweight, but this does not add loyalty to people with such a problem.
When I, a survivor at the cost of being slim, go out in public, I feel the fear of a little defenseless girl who wants to hide from the judging eyes of strangers.
That is why it is very easy and comfortable for me to work on Skype, and I don’t really want to do constellations, games, and trainings “live” now.
In July, I will have to speak at a scientific and practical conference in Moscow, and I have already begun to think over my image for public speaking and some of its nuances, namely:
- I will try to get into the pulpit, if there is one!
- I will dress in something monochromatic, not very expressive, for example, trousers and a blouse in black or dark blue or another deep color
- I will focus on the head and face - neat hairstyle, flawless makeup, good glasses
- I will put on a bright pendant or neckerchief in order to finally shift my attention to the upper body - face, head and neck
- My strong point is a good voice. It is important to remember this all the time.
- I will prepare a high-quality presentation with a large number of tables, diagrams and pictures, and it will definitely shift the focus of the listeners' attention!
- If there is no lectern, you can make fun of yourself to remove the desire to discuss. For example: “How can I stand so that my dimensions do not obstruct your presentation?
- Most importantly, I have openly told you what my fears and concerns are connected with!

Why Is My Child Still Speaking Poorly Or Not Speaking At All?
With what requests do parents most often come to me as a neuropsychologist? Often this is a query "why is my child still speaking poorly or not speaking at all?" At first, many moms and dads believe that the development of speech is simply a little delayed, but then by the age of 3 years the child begins to sound the alarm.
Fear Of Public Speaking: Exercises And Ways To Overcome
Each person has different fears and phobias. Some people can talk openly about their experiences, while others keep their fears private. In everyday life, we periodically have to turn to a mass audience, be it a queue at a clinic or communication with a parent meeting participant at school.
How We Mirror Others And Others Us
We are perfect in our imperfection. Perhaps this is the only perfection that is present in us. We most often see our imperfection in others. They say that people are our mirrors. We reflect to each other exactly what is in us. It responds within and instead of analyzing ourselves, we look at the other.
ABOUT FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING
Fear is an internal state caused by an impending real or perceived disaster. From the point of view of psychology, it is considered a negatively colored emotional process. In the animal kingdom, fear is an emotion based on past negative experiences that plays a large role in the survival of an individual.
