In February, winter came to its senses and fell asleep with snow, whirled with icy winds (so that right in the face) and froze the city.

Before the client's appointment, I had time to walk into a cozy coffee shop, drink an Americano with cinnamon, watch the blizzard and get ready for work.

There were 12 people in the coffee shop, 3 of them were young and ruddy couples, the rest of the visitors were one at a time, and a clever barista, who, apart from ordering, wished every customer "Have a nice day!" and gave a smile.

All this: the aroma of pastries, the sounds of a working coffee machine, the pleasant voice of the barista created an atmosphere of benevolence and some kind of relaxation.

They entered and immediately began to stomp loudly, knocking the snow off their shoes. A woman in a brown sheepskin coat and a blue knitted hat (let it be a grandmother), and a girl of about 5, in a white down jacket and a white and pink hat with a large bubo.

We went to the display case, quietly discussed the menu. The grandmother offered to take a teapot of black tea for two, and the girl asked for a cup of cocoa with small marshmallows instead of tea. At 5 years old, the choice between black tea and cocoa with marshmallows in a beautiful cup is more than obvious.

"Are you sure you deserve a cup of that cocoa?" - in a harsh voice, but so that it could be heard by the whole coffee shop, the grandmother asked the girl.

It seemed to me that all the visitors were startled by this question. The atmosphere of relaxation shattered into smithereens. Feelings of shame, guilt and something disgustingly sticky for their involuntary presence at this scene spread. It became quiet and anxious. Some of the visitors were even more focused on their phones, the rest were looking at this pair, waiting for the girl's answer.

She was silent, froze and kind of froze with tension. She shook her head to the sides, whispered something.

I remembered the expression: "to sink into the ground from shame", "to disappear", "to dissolve in the air."

- Well, here, and I would have spent money in vain. You must always know for sure that you want it and deserve it! To the exit! - the grandmother solemnly completed this performance.

It looked like the grandmother knew exactly what she was doing and what exactly the girl deserved.

And if she chose another place (without witnesses), not in such a devaluing-humiliating form, then it could be a sincere conversation about important female things: self-esteem, a sense of the value of herself and her desires, allowing herself little joys, all that wisdom that passed from an older woman to a woman-to-be.

But it happened how it happened, history does not know the subjunctive mood.

Then I thought, maybe the question was in cost?

Grandma didn't know how to refuse her granddaughter? Comparing the cost of a teapot of tea and cocoa plus something for my grandmother, I realized that no … it was something else.

Is it possible to negotiate with the "inner grandmother" and teach her to take care of it with respect? How to resist and learn not to fall into confusion, ashamed of guilt for your "cups of cocoa with marshmallows"?

Where to go and what to do for girls who cannot deal with their “inner grandmother”?

At a consultation, and talk about yourself, your desires and dreams. So that, as my grandmother said in a coffee shop, "you always know for sure that you want it and deserve it!"

And buy yourself cocoa with marshmallows, just like that, without any conditions and obligations.
