It so happened in our culture that until something breaks or hurts, we are in no hurry to figure out how it works. Everything would be fine, only there is one snag, when we rush to fix what is already broken or to treat the already sick, sometimes it is too late.

Likewise with mental, emotional health. For some reason, in the post-Soviet space, there is an opinion that it is shameful to go to a psychologist, after all, you can talk with friends, they will definitely advise something. You can also pretend that you are strong, and you need to endure all the hardships and wait out. Or my favorite "What can this psychologist tell me? I know everything myself."

So let's figure out for whom a psychologist is needed.

First you need to understand who a psychologist is. A psychologist is a specialist who studies the structure of a person's personality (from the Greek "studying the soul"), the principles and causes of a number of emotions and psychological trauma. Psychology also deals with the development of a person's personality. Since it is believed that psychological health is not only the absence of disease, but also satisfaction with life, the ability to use your strengths of character and be aware of all the resources you have.

What can you work on in consultation with a psychologist?

Any emotional issue that bothers you. This can be a well-defined request, such as "I want to become more confident in myself." Or a general condition that worries you, but you do not know why - "I have so many things to do, but I do not feel the strength to get out of bed."

What does a consultation with a psychologist look like?

An individual consultation with a psychologist takes place in a calm atmosphere, without the presence of strangers who are not involved in the consultation. It can be carried out both in person and via the Internet.

I conduct my consultations mainly online, subject to a number of rules. Firstly, the consultation is carried out only when the camera and microphone are on. With a microphone, everything is clear, but why do you need a camera, you ask. In an individual consultation, it is important not only what you tell the psychologist, but also the emotions that you show at the same time (your facial expressions, gestures), you need, so to speak, a general picture for the integrity of the consultation. Secondly, a "safe room", a place where you will feel comfortable, you will not be afraid that someone else will hear your problem and, most importantly, you will not be distracted.

The consultation usually lasts about 50 minutes. Depending on the difficulty, I ask "homework", it can be exercises or literature. I always send the assignment by mail after a preliminary analysis of the work done during the consultation.

Is one consultation enough?

Probably one of the most asked questions. And the answer 90% of the time is no. Unfortunately psychology is not magic and the problem may not be solved from one meeting with a specialist. This is a rather time-consuming process that you should devote yourself to.

At the first meeting, it is important to get to know the person, figure out what difficulty he comes with and whether this request can be fulfilled. And only after that start to work.

If you wondered if you need a psychologist, then most likely your subconscious is sending a signal that you need help. You shouldn't wait until something "breaks", I suggest signing up for the first FREE consultation with me and I will help you figure out what the reason is. To make an appointment, just write to my e-mail, the address of which is in the Contacts tab, on my personal page.
