Each person has their own set of values. We use it in all areas of life. Values influence our needs, interests, attitudes and beliefs.

V. Frankl said: “the meaning of a person's life as his basic education finds its manifestation in the system of values. The psychologist also focused on the subjective significance of values, which is accompanied, first of all, by a person taking responsibility for their implementation."

In practice, I meet situations when values are collapsing or rethought. At such moments, a person feels the loss of the meaning of life. Therefore, in order to restore it, it is necessary to talk about what is valuable to him.

Criticism of values is a more constant phenomenon. A person always experiences suffering in such cases. He, of course, finds ways to adapt or defend himself, but at the cost of resentment or aggression.

Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of their values and, as a result, cannot explain many of their reactions. As a result, we do not always understand why something caused this or that emotion in us, what we disputed in dialogues, what we tried to prove or what opinion we defended. One of the reasons for this behavior may be due to the fact that the interlocutor touched some of our value.

To build harmonious relationships with others, it is necessary to study their values. It is especially important to research and discuss the values of prospective spouses and their families. Carefully watch how relatives communicate with each other, what they discuss, how they relate to certain events, how they solve conflict situations, what they say about their friends, how they relate to animals)))).

However, before exploring the values of others, you need to know your own. I suggest you look inside yourself and look at your set. It is best to make a list and arrange in order of importance to you:

- what is very important and you will defend;

- what is important, but if they try to violate or slander, it will not harm you; you are more flexible about them;

- it is important, you pay attention to this, but such values do not play a decisive role in interaction with people.

If there are difficulties with the definition, I propose to divide the values into the following categories and subcategories:

  • Personal life and relationships: love, feelings, family, understanding, children. Harmony in relationships with the outside world, life and people. Home, comfort. Entertainment and recreation.
  • Business, business, work: my business, my projects, career, power, status, money. Education, professional development.
  • Personal development: personal growth, social and psychological skills. Beauty, health, harmonious development. Originality, self-development, spiritual growth. Cognition of life, realization of purpose.

And finally. Values are our inner core. It depends on us how stable it will be. We can either follow values, while strengthening ourselves as a person, or betray them, following the lead of others. However, it is important not to use your values as a tool in the manifestation of selfishness.

It is very important to learn to respect your own and other people's values. And never to ridicule or devalue them.
