2. Be honest
At the beginning of therapy, it is helpful to formulate an honest request that really matters to you. In the process of work, it is important to honestly express the feelings that arise, especially if it is fear, anxiety, discontent, disappointment or anger. On completion, it is helpful to honestly discuss why you are ending therapy and with what feelings. Without your contribution, without your own feelings, therapy will cease to be about YOU, but will become just "talk" for your money.
3. Foolish thoughts are helpful
Psychotherapy is a space not only for your consciousness, but also for your subconscious mind. And it is completely not logical. Voice over, share strange and stupid thoughts, associations or memories that have come to you. Any professional therapist will be happy. After all, perhaps a discussion of just one of these thoughts will lead to the desired change!
4. Write down and memorize
During therapy, a lot happens both inside and outside. To make the process as efficient as possible, between meetings you can memorize or write down some important ideas or experiences so that you can discuss them later at the meeting or just brag about your successes (this is also very necessary!). It can also be useful to write down any new ideas or "reminders" that came to you during the meeting.
5. Homework
Therapy takes place not only directly at the meeting with the therapist, but also between the meetings. To ensure that the process does not slow down or stop, the therapist often gives "homework" to train new skills and try new ways. After all, the task of therapy is to change your life outside of meetings with a therapist, and not within the walls of a cozy office.
6. Track Your Path
Any therapist monitors the process of work and the fulfillment of the client's request, but one head is good, and two is better. It will be even more effective if you, too, remember why you are here and where you want to come, this will further focus you.
7. Have fun
In psychotherapy it can be difficult, and painful, and difficult. But this does not mean that therapy is sheer torture. It should not be. It is good if you, together with the therapist, make your work more comfortable and enjoyable.
