An article about what would be great if everyone had their own psychologist!
I just want to share my thoughts.
I think that the world would be calmer, there would be less anxiety in us if everyone had their own psychologist.
Let me explain with my example. Although I am a psychologist, I have my own troubles in my personal life. For example, my addiction to addictive and codependent relationships has not gone away, even after years of therapy. And addictions, as you know, are not cured. Addiction, or the propensity to addiction, we get in early childhood and live with it as a given. This is what is given to us at the entrance. But do not be discouraged, you can live with it, and as my life shows, it is quite good. It's just that you always have to deal with it somehow. Well, it's like people who were born with a certain prophet or who acquired a disability in early childhood - they know that they are different from others, but their life is no worse and no better than the lives of other people. They have their own difficulties, people without disabilities have other difficulties.
So that's it. Knowing about this peculiarity of mine, when I notice that something is not right in my life, I immediately go to my psychotherapist. Without hesitation. She has known me for many years and therefore we manage to get out of this relatively quickly (namely US, because working with a psychologist is always a joint work). And this knowledge very much soothes my soul. That is, I know that as soon as my life begins to go about the wrong path, I have a lifeline - a therapist. She knows me, she knows my story, and we can be very sincere with each other, which gives us a lot of freedom in this relationship. Although I am silent about how many times I wanted to leave her, it was not always easy and simple.
And in this regard, I thought - how great it would be for everyone to have such a person who, in moments of blockage, will pull out, help, return everything to its place. This would reduce the level of anxiety in our world and, it seems to me, would make this world happier and healthier!
So don't be discouraged or anxious if you have to go to your therapist for years. This is fine. In the USA, for example, this is generally standard practice. She says: "Problems with your wife? Problems with your wife? We don't have them. We have a psychologist - everyone has their own."
Life with an empathic, warm, understanding and understanding professional is always a little easier and easier.
So keep everything in your life simple and easy!
