All parents want their baby to be the first to learn letters and counting, so that he can memorize poetry on the fly, have an unlimited vocabulary and learn better than anyone else. And so that the notorious IQ - intelligence quotient - was like Einstein's! The question is how to measure this very coefficient of intelligence, how to push the child to such a brilliant intellectual start and what to do if he is not particularly eager to extract square roots in his mind and memorize "Eugene Onegin", but prefers to watch cartoons and tinker with toys ?
At your own pace
The most important thing to understand when developing your child: every effort you make in this direction will pay off with interest, but at the same time, the outstanding success of your child in the first years of life does not guarantee that he will continue to outperform his peers. On the contrary - some children start talking in phrases at age one and a half, while others - at three, someone reads fluently at four, and someone by the end of the first grade is still sorting out the text by syllables.
Over time, the difference is leveled: the lagging children catch up with those who have taken the lead, because everyone has their own pace of development, so you should not be upset because some things are not given to your baby. Surely there are areas in which he has no equal, and he will eliminate the lag in others in due time with your help.
Mind chamber
In advanced schools, students are tested not only for reading and numeracy, but also for IQ, which reflects the ratio of mental development in relation to age. A normal child should have an IQ of 100 percent. If this figure reaches 120-135, we are talking about a gifted kid, and children who score more than 160 are considered geeks.
Almost like in a joke about newspapers in a baby carriage, which served as a pretext for an exchange of remarks between a passer-by old woman and the mother of a super-kid. The old woman exclaims: "Such a crumb - and already reads the newspapers!" "No, what are you, while only solving crosswords," objected the parent. "He is not a child prodigy with us!"
The IQ was invented in 1916 by the French psychologist Alfred Binet and then applied it, and not at all to identify gifted children! On the contrary, according to this indicator, he determined the lag in mental development and assessed the degree of his delay. But soon, unexpectedly for the author himself, in Europe and America, children began to measure giftedness with the help of IQ: the coefficient designed to weed out children who were unable to learn began to be considered as the main indicator of mental abilities!
But in fact, it allows you to roughly judge not about mental potential, but only about the level of development of logical thinking and the subject's outlook, his awareness in various issues. It also depends on how much adults do with the child and in which family he grows up - in a simple family or in the one where the parents have three educations and two scientific degrees.
The fact that a high IQ is not a guarantee of genius is evidenced by the results of a long-term experiment by American scientists. They started it back in the 1920s, identifying fifteen hundred highly gifted children on the basis of IQ tests, and then watched them all their lives until old age. It turned out that by the middle grades, child prodigies practically did not stand out among their peers, and in high school, many of them were inferior in academic performance to students who initially did not shine with intelligence and abilities.

HEAVY START START
Children become attached to whoever takes the main care of them. The further life of a child strongly depends on the nature of this attachment. A sense of security develops when an adult is able to emotionally tune in to a child. The attunement begins at the most subtle levels of interaction between adult and child.
“Intellectual Senses. Connecting The Polarities "or" How To Start Loving Your Job? "
When I began to take my first steps in practical psychology, I began to come across psychologists and psychotherapists who loudly and persistently asserted about the harm of “thinking”. One of the main, striking arguments was the opposition of thoughts to feelings.
Does The Child Get Deuces? Perhaps He Is A Genius
Would you respect Usain Bolt, the Olympic running champion, less if you found out that he is completely, well, completely incapable of taking logarithms? Would you require John Lennon, who plays with headphones on millions of people, to be at least a little more athletic?
How To Raise A Child To Be A Genius?
Most of us admire the geniuses of this world. But not everyone knows that genius does not come from genes, although the roots of these words are similar. What did Robert Greckham's experiment prove? That out of 200 children conceived from the sperm of outstanding fathers, only one showed abilities in childhood.
