Have you ever noticed how difficult it is for us (not all of course, but most) to communicate with people with disabilities. I could never understand the peculiarity of the Russian people. What makes us so different from Europeans and Americans that we cannot, not only integrate a disabled person into our system, but even with difficulty we are in the same space with him.

And the fact is that we cannot look our devoted children in the eyes. As a mother who abandoned her child, she cannot meet with him after many years, even if the child has forgiven her and is ready to accept. The answer lies in our history. Ask your parents and progenitors, those who remember Russia immediately after the Second World War. One of the most vivid memories will be a huge number of disabled people, moving on planks with bearings and begging for alms. They were drunken young people. Motherland first gave them a drink, pouring a glass of alcohol before the battle. Because a person in an unchanged consciousness cannot shoot another in the face. Svetlana Nikiforova cited statistics, it turns out in close combat, while shouting "Attack!" only 25% shoot. Three out of four cannot shoot. And so they poured them a glass of vodka and sent them under the bullets.

Then the crippled and wounded were thrown into the streets of the city. And then they disappeared. All disappeared at once. It's just that the Motherland decided that the young Soviet country was not a country of invalids, but of young, healthy and strong guys. And in 49 they were collected in wagons and sent to Solovki. But they could not stand the sanatorium treatment and very soon died out. Long gone are those who decided their fate, but we all bear the burden of responsibility and guilt for the fact that our ancestors betrayed and did not protect their children, for the fact that they turned away from them and threw them out of their lives, from the world, for which they gave their life, their youth, their destiny.

And this is precisely the answer to the question of why we turn away and do not want to see injuries. But it is in our power to rectify the situation and not shift this terrible burden onto our children. Take the first such and important step. Buy toys for children with disabilities: wheelchair, blind, legless. And embed this toy into his puppet world. Let him be the same part as all the other dolls and bears. This very important, very therapeutic action will help your child feel free and confident in all the diversity of the world.
