Before becoming a graduate, I worked in recruiting for many years. And of course I had to look for a new job, so I visited both sides of the barricades, and I have enough experience in this matter. Which is what I want to share with the applicants.
When you are out of work for a long time, or vice versa, you sit for a long time in one place and have to look for a new one, you face a common problem: when even sending a resume to a potential employer drives you into wild horror, and even more so to call yourself!
The level of determination, strength and potential fall to zero, and the more you read the texts of vacancies with their sky-high demands, the less self-confidence. It's stressful and can be very unsettling. But there is no need to despair and give up: “he who seeks, he will always find,” says the old proverb, and it really is. It is important to formulate what you want to do in order not to lower the bar and not rush from different areas of activity in the search process. For example: I am an accountant, but I have not worked for so long, so many new programs have appeared during this time, okay, the vacancy of a typesetter will also go.
A few simple rules to make your quest easier and reduce anxiety.
Send your resume to all, to all the vacancies you like, if the employer did not call you back or did not answer by e-mail, call yourself in a day and ask if you have read your resume. It’s easier than “sitting” on the phone and repeating the same thing about your track record like a parrot, and you will be less worried, because the employer already knows the necessary information about you.
Check out the resume of your potential competitors applying for the same job, so you will know your strengths and weaknesses. It is important not to rewrite or copy other people's resumes, because you may not know something from the list of achievements and skills of other people, and this can affect the interview in an unpleasant way.
If you decide to place your photo in your resume, it should be as presentable as possible: by no means a selfie, not from a mass event where other people come into the frame, not in a tracksuit, not at a festive table, not with a "cut out" from a photo by another person, etc., even if it seems to you that you look as beautiful as possible in these photos.
Prepare a list of questions for potential employers when they call you with offers. For example: how it is more convenient to get to the office, work schedule, salary, are there any business trips, etc., everything that will be important for you, so as not to waste your time by coming to a vacancy that does not suit you.
But, if you have enough money and funds, you can go to all interviews, after a few job offers, your self-esteem will increase and it will be much easier for you to continue looking for a job that suits you as much as possible.
Do not come to an interview in jeans, especially if these are administrative vacancies and higher.
Never be late, and it will be better if you have a spare resume with you, this will make it easier for you to fill out the questionnaire.
Never emotionally scold the previous employer, even if there really was an incident of non-compliance with the Labor Code and violation of your rights. Just state the facts dryly, for example: I had to work overtime and weekends and were not paid for them, and I did not agree to such conditions at the time of admission.
Do not worry if you are refused, never, just go ahead and look for your own. You should be in good shape and full of energy, you shouldn't give up.
And finally, remember that those vacancies in which they ask for financial investment from you are fraudulent, bypass them.
