Clients often ask questions about how the sessions will be held, how many consultations are needed, what types of individual work with them can I offer? In this article I will describe three options that I use myself, perhaps this information will clarify the specifics a little.

First option.

Strategic session - can even be held once or once a month, for example, or upon request. On it we: firstly, we remove the tension caused by the situation or the issue under discussion, secondly, we look for opportunities to get out of the current circumstances, thirdly, we connect internal resources for subsequent implementation, and fourthly, we draw up an action plan for the near future. …

The duration of the consultation is from 1 hour 30 minutes or more. Of course, the cost of such a session, or rather, brainstorming, will be much more expensive than the cost of an ordinary consultation, due to the fact that this type of psychologist requires much more resources and energy in order not only to sort out the issue as quickly as possible, but also to inspire the client, to induce him to action. This consultation option is somewhat similar to life coaching, but it has a number of advantages.

Second option.

Psychological consultation - held once a week, the minimum course consists of 10 meetings or more (depending on the request). During this kind of sessions, we analyze specific situations, study the manifestations of a person in similar circumstances, look for the reasons that cause standard repetitive reactions and emotions. Next, we analyze, learn to track and cope with unwanted manifestations (reactions, emotions, etc.). We put into practice new behavioral habits and analyze their success in sessions.

Before embarking on the course of consultations, a free 15-minute introductory meeting-conversation on Skype is held. What is this meeting for? To understand how a psychologist suits you, how well you feel each other, and whether you can trust him in the future. I highly recommend that you always ask the specialist of your choice to hold a similar preliminary meeting, so as not to waste either time or money on an unproductive consultation. Psychologists also visit psychologists (it's not a secret for anyone), so I know firsthand how important it is to find “your own”.

The third option.

Psychotherapy. She follows a course of psychological counseling (in my experience, after 10-12, you can start). During psychotherapy, deeper requests are sorted out and worked through. While exploring them, you need to return and immerse yourself in childhood. A revision of life is carried out for the presence of incorrect attitudes and childhood traumas, after which there is a gradual awareness, and then the correction of patterns (unconsciously created algorithms of behavior). Accordingly, after long-term and high-quality therapy and joint successful work with a psychotherapist, all spheres of the patient's life are being established (in psychotherapy it is the patient, not the client). The number of consultations depends both on the request and on the person who wants to go through them, as well as on the involvement in the transformation process and the application in practice of everything that will be found during this painstaking work. At best, a psychotherapeutic course can last about six months, sometimes even several years. In this type of work, the involvement of the patient and his responsibility for the necessary work on himself are very important, as well as consistency - that is, continuous consultations at least once a week (maybe twice a week).
