More and more popular TV series appear. The fates of the heroes are mesmerizing, and the companies receive large fees from the episodes watched. Everything would be fine, only now many are so attached to the emotions that the TV series give that they slowly begin to lose sight of their own lives.

So how do you beat your TV addiction?

First, you need to determine the reason for your attachment to the series. After analyzing the situation, I can distinguish two main factors: an escape from reality and a lack of vivid emotions. Let's take a closer look at them.

Escape from reality can be a defense mechanism against stress, unpleasant emotions, insoluble situations, or even procrastination. Some people are more inclined to solve their problems with proactive actions, while others prefer to ignore them for as long as possible.

Don't jump to conclusions, ignoring is a good way in "desperate" situations. For example, when you are waiting for someone's decision and nothing depends on you. In this case, there really is no point in accumulating stress and it is best to be distracted. If you are not happy with the distraction of TV shows and you want to spend every minute with benefit, make a to-do list for times of crisis. For example, such a list may include activities that you have long wanted to try (drawing, cooking, etc.), fascinating literature (both in regular and audio formats) or documentary / popular science films (if you watch something so usefully).

What if watching TV shows is triggered by negative emotions or procrastination? Then you need to look for the root of the problem. Answer the question what is the source of your negative emotions and try to protect yourself from this. I understand, it's easy to say. But is it better to live the lives of your favorite heroes than to build your own.

We sorted out negative emotions, which is at the expense of procrastination. Procrastination appears if the task assigned to you is too difficult or simply not interesting. If you don't know which side to approach your goal, divide it into small actions. As they say, a book is not written in a day. First a word, then a sentence, then a paragraph, and before you have time to look back, the first chapter is over. It is the same with difficult tasks. But it also happens that a task imposed from the outside, for example, an annual report or homework, which remains undone until the last. Here the situation is about the same, only there is not enough positive reinforcement. Divide the task into parts, and for completing each of them, thank yourself with something pleasant.

Let's move on to the next factor, the lack of vivid emotions. If you're avoiding your own life because it's like groundhog day, then it's time to change that. Analyze the TV shows you watch and the characters you like. What emotions do they evoke in you? What actions take place in the TV shows that appeal to you? Maybe this is an active social life, then it's time to get out to some kind of concert or just meet with friends more often. Maybe these are love dramas, then you lack passion or romance, go on a date or kindle a spark in your partner, or maybe you are completely tired of your current relationship and you are afraid to face the truth. Now analyze every little thing that attracts you and you will find out what you are missing.

And of course, reduce the number of episodes watched and with each new day you will notice how your life begins to change.
