A family with an alcoholic and children has a certain bouquet of roles with which everyone in the family lives and functions. Role - alcohol addicted.
Subconsciously seeks to escape from reality, trying to artificially change his mental state, in order to live in the illusion of security and balance. There is no balance in life without alcohol. A fused relationship with his alcoholic, a tendency to rescue heroism, self-sacrifice, lack of personal self-identification.
Such relationships do not contribute to the development of independence, "overlap" creative abilities, ignore the uniqueness inherent in the human personality as such. In the course of such a relationship, the whole family has a general stable feeling of losing oneself, dissolving in another of its own personality.
The state of co-dependence is characterized by:
1) delusion, denial, self-deception;
2) compulsive actions (unconscious irrational behavior that a person may regret, but still acts, as if driven by an invisible inner force):
3) frozen feelings;
4) low self-esteem;
5) health disorders associated with stress.
And then the one who is weaker (as a rule, children) will quite law-abiding become addicted, "choosing" for himself some kind of addiction, and not necessarily alcoholic, in his adult life. Here is such a sad cycle in nature … How to get out of this vicious circle? A lifelong journey. Treatment for an alcoholic is the beginning of the journey. Treatment gives a break for a couple of months. This couple of months should be devoted to a complete change in the family's lifestyle. Include psychotherapy for the whole family (paid and usually expensive) or groups of Alcoholics Anonymous, such as Al-Anon. Is free. Classes for many years, sober and, therefore, a happy family life.
