More often than not, we replay past conversations in our head over and over again, talk over possible options to continue, prepare to repel an attack by an invisible enemy or participate in conflicts that have already been thought out to the smallest detail.

What a colossal amount of energy we spend on an aimless, impetuous whirlwind in our head.

Thoughts gallop. We wind up and inflate ourselves, we frighten with non-existent fears and dangers. We are worried about our children and loved ones. We are not finding a place for ourselves because of the possible rise in utility prices, because of the ozone holes over Australia and even because of the policies of the American president!

If you let everything take its course, then gradually this "radio" becomes habitual. And we more and more often live accompanied by constant noise in our heads. We masterfully drive ourselves to complete exhaustion, to frenzy. Until a total loss of strength in the end. And the further, the sadder. We are gradually losing sleep and rest, losing strength and health. Once in childhood, it seemed to us that grandmother's phrase was a joke: "I could not sleep yesterday, I began to count. I counted to five, and then it was getting light." Now sometimes we ourselves notice this.

Is everything so sad and there is no way out?

Of course there is!

You can get rid of this radio!

You can independently regulate your own flow of thoughts!

And even choose the thoughts that think!

But first things first.

Yes! Internal conversations can and should be stopped. This is a vital life skill that comes with practice.

Especially when there is already an image of "radio".

Here are 6 ways I've tried to calm down internal conversations.

Method # 1

The radio can be muted

As we adjust the volume of the radio, so the volume of the inner voice can be increased or decreased using the imagination. We introduced the radio, amplify the sound and make the "volume" maximum. After a few seconds, abruptly turn off the sound.

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work out right away. Try again and again!

You can successfully use an imaginary volume control for this: it can be any part of your body (knee, elbow) or a foreign object that will be available at the same place and another time (for example, a button on a dress).

Method # 2

The radio can be switched to another wave

Take your headphones and play your favorite music. Look for what you like, that resonates in the body, look for the perfect music for your mood at the moment. Sing along, dance, relax and dissolve. Do exactly what you need most right now.

Method # 3

Become a radio yourself

Speak and sing yourself! It doesn't matter if you can sing or not, whether you know the lyrics of the song, it doesn't matter if you hit the notes or how your voice sounds. Sing it softly or scream loudly. Do what you like. If you have any obsession, belief or phrase that slows you down and haunts you, sing this phrase in different voices and motives, hum until it becomes funny and goofy, until it finally stops take away your energy. Play musical instruments, use any available means, extracting new sounds and rhythms from them.

* Be attentive at the same time to others. Don't do anything that might harm you or anyone else.

Method # 4

Use a ground connection

Discharge energy from the head to the body. Sip a glass of clean water, exercise, yoga, shower, cleaning, ironing - anything that will force your body to work and shut off your brain activity.

* Do not cook food if you are in a bad mood, it can adversely affect the taste and health. You can pamper yourself with something tasty, but be careful not to overuse this method: constant seizure often leads to excess weight and unnecessary problems.

Method # 5. Shorthand

Put your inner thoughts on paper: write down thoughts, words, whatever comes to mind. Draw, sculpt - by any means possible, free your head from chaos. If you are recording your "conversations", do not think about what it looks like, do not try to judge and do not seek to create a literary masterpiece. Just write. And don't re-read it right away. Come back to these notes after a while, and you will be genuinely surprised at what you see. Sometimes it is even difficult to recognize yourself in these phrases. Give it a try, it's worth it!

Method # 6

Purify ether and enhance inner silence

Begin to systematically use meditation and breathing practices - the most effective ways to cleanse your head. Set aside all worries and worries for a while, sit back and devote some time to yourself. Put aside all your affairs and worries, close your eyes and calmly watch how your thoughts pass by like light clouds on the inner screen. There are many of them, they gradually dissipate, but none of them lingers and flows smoothly on. By practicing twice a day for 5 minutes of silence and deep inner contemplation, you will very soon notice significant changes that will bring peace, joy and energy into your life. There is a huge amount of literature on this issue, various methods and schools offer a wide variety of "Journey to The Core" techniques (this is what Bert Hellinger calls meditation).

Method # 7

Find another means of communication. Use your senses

Transfer the focus of attention from your head to the outside world. If you feel an ongoing conversation, stop for a moment and feel the parts of your body, smell the smells around you, look and notice something special right now.

Listen to the sounds from the outside: how trees rustle, birds sing or a baby sniffs quietly.

Stop auditing and evaluating yourself and your environment all the time.

Remember the wise monkey from the cartoon “38 Parrots”:

“You can't think the same thought all the time! This is very harmful! You can get bored and sick from this."

Look around and watch around in surprise.

Smile to yourself! And look, listen, feel the world around you and … have fun! Drink it all!
