Even in the most difficult times, it is important to find sources that will replenish the internal resource by at least one percent. What is an internal resource?

These are physical and mental strengths that are necessary for everyday life and a little more.

There are two ways you can use this resource to your advantage.

For severely depleted clients, in severe neurosis, I recommend: learn not to use up the available resource. Roughly speaking, if your glass is half full, don't spill what you already have.

How can this be done?

Do not get involved in situations that are not directly related to you

For example, in the conflicts and conversations of people around you who talk to each other, but not to you. Even if you really want to, and the topic is burning for you, just take a breath and say to yourself: “I am me. It doesn't concern me. The same principle applies to helping other people without asking, to chewing on situations from ten minutes ago (you can control it), to worrying about the war in Iraq and famine in Africa. If you are tired, even the news is not useful for you.

Do not do work that is not required of you

And you do it, even if it seems to you that you are doing exactly as much as enough. Because you are tired. Because you are reading this now. So, there is a so-called. the required minimum. In essence, this is an objective list of tasks that are presented to you. But the inner feeling that the letters are not even enough or the angle is not straight enough is already yours, personal. It has nothing to do with reality. Especially if you are a perfectionist and live with a heightened sense of responsibility for everything around you. If you are tired, limit yourself to only the actual responsibilities.

Do not waste energy on defending a point of view that is not fundamental to yourself

Well, really, is the place in the queue for the token or the stress in the word “ringing” worth it for you to connect with your body and senses and start proving your case? Disputes over trifles are a resource activity only if they are paid for. Otherwise, you are simply wasting your time and energy speaking. Sometimes this is important and necessary. Then we grow in our own eyes. But often unprincipled questions take more energy to defend than give satisfaction.

Don't ignore physical needs

It is very helpful to bring some awareness to the very base of Maslow's pyramid. It is normal for a person to want to drink once an hour (with low-intensity physical activity). Therefore, accustom yourself to a sip of water every hour and a half. Water is important for replenishing strength, since it is it that is the filling of our cells. Dehydration causes drowsiness and accelerates fatigue. Drink water. It is also useful to eat a full (not fast) food. Ask yourself every three hours: “Am I hungry? What would I eat now?”. And try to give it to your body. If you are not hungry, do not eat. But it is important to ask your body this question consciously, with pauses and with concentration on the sensations of the body.

Relax

Modern man suffers from an absolute inability, and sometimes from panic fear, to be alone with himself. Rest occurs exclusively during sleep, and now it is customary to fill the time free from sleep and work with information (Internet, music, books …). But the point is that the brain rests in informational silence. In any case, relative. In any other case, the brain analyzes information. Naturally, the analysis takes place even in a dream. But you will have to reduce the amount of information. Therefore, if you have a free minute, take a rest. This means, leave only background noise around. Direct, eye-to-ear information (movies, books) is best avoided.

Abandoning activities that tire you out

For example, from meeting people, if you are oversaturated with contacts for the day. From traveling by public transport, if possible by taxi. From participation in seminars or trainings, if there is no strength and an urgent need - too. To do this, you need to be well aware of your current resource. Ask yourself if you want to talk to someone now. Are you able to perceive new information now and are you able to analyze and sort it in your mind? If not, you can attend, but not participate in events that you cannot refuse. If there is such an opportunity, take advantage of it. Another important question that I recommend to myself to ask: "Do I really want new stimuli now - visual, auditory, tactile?" This means that if the conditions allow you such luxuries as silence, darkness and space, it is worth setting up such a “recovery chamber” for yourself. This works better than three hours of sleep.

When you manage to keep the resource at a stable level for a long time, you can gradually increase it.

Structure your time so that your day-to-day needs are taken into account first, and then your business

When physically and emotionally exhausted, I recommend starting a new diary. With dates and hours. It is important. Then we determine the real priorities, focusing on the needs. For example, for my mental and physical health it is necessary to exercise three times a week, receive personal psychotherapy once a week, and besides, I also study German. I need two days off a week and lunch breaks between clients. For this reason, when I plan my week, first of all I write in my diary and highlight these personal priorities with a bright marker. Around them, I already write clients and other cases. Because my physical and mental exhaustion will not help me in my work. Moreover, it can do harm. This is a very simple way to save a resource and not look for time for important and necessary things among everything else. Time for yourself will not appear. It needs to be planned initially. By the same principle, regular visits to the doctor, beautician, vacation and everything else are entered into the diary. Visualizing life is essential.

Try to regularly get new positive experiences, look for sources around

This is not about fashionable “positive thinking” and not about bright statements like “learn to see positive in everything”. It is about keeping track of things, phenomena, and events that fill you up and at the same time do not tire you. For example, on the way home, there is a beautiful balcony in a neighboring house. And you can look at it as you walk, it will be enjoyable and uplifting. Or you enjoy the sight of pure crisp snow. And you can not run through the snow, but go home on foot, listen to the crunch of snow under your feet, take photos with snow-covered branches, make a snowman, make Christmas trees on a fresh snow carpet. It is good if you are clearly aware of your resource places and phenomena and can return to them when necessary. It is very good for the soul to drink coffee in different places, I like to go to different coffee houses, look for non-standard interiors and recipes. If time does not allow, you can look for entertainment for the weekend - exhibitions, performances, concerts, fairs. Impressions are very important. It is important to change the picture and even more important - to perceive this change and be aware of it. Roughly speaking, to be in the picture.

Find events, images, smells pleasant for you in the world around you

Physical stimuli are very important. These are the most tangible and real, if I may say so, impressions that we can get. Physical hunger is easier to satisfy than emotional. Therefore, it is important to fill your life with pleasant physical stimuli. What smells do you like? Sour, Sweet, or Spicy? Does your home and office smell like that? What colors do you like? Are there many of these flowers around you? Do things have nice textures around you? These are all the little things that you can organize for yourself anywhere. To have a positive source of resources, make sure that all of this “your” surrounds you.

Choose your social circle carefully and learn to surround yourself with those people with whom you are interested and at the same time not difficult to communicate

Have you noticed that the number and quality of people around you is directly related to age and emotional state? And does it significantly affect how you feel and your self-esteem? This is because we have a habit of being in a sacrificial position. All events in the world, including the social circle, I divide into two categories - those that happen to us, and those that we influence. I include natural disasters, human deaths and diseases among the first. But the second is everything else, including the social circle. It is an illusion that if you are surrounded by conventionally “losers,” then you are also a failure. You can choose from people around exactly those, to the level of life and thoughts of which you strive. If you are surrounded by people who complain about everyone, you will feel that everything is really bad. But this is not reality, but perception. Allow yourself to refuse to listen to other people's complaints, give them advice, and actively participate in gossip and squabbles. You will see that the quality of the people around you will increase. Together with self-esteem and well-being. Do not be lazy to search around for people with similar interests.

Take care of yourself physically, pay attention to pain, disturbances in the functioning of the body, symptoms of nervous system fatigue in time and seek help

Health is the foundation of everything. You yourself know that. So I won't surprise you with my recommendation to put health first. You shouldn't slip into hypochondria, but you shouldn't ignore the real symptoms. Regular headaches “for the weather” are no longer a symptom, but a disease. And it's worth treating. Long-term insomnia is a disease, not a regimen. And it will have consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a neurologist and normalize sleep. Yes, you can be an owl. But owls are not the ones who stay up all night and are “cut down” all day. This is a mode when falling asleep is shifted for a time after 23.00. But it happens normally, quickly. And deep sleep and awakening after 8-9 hours of sleep is light. And the state is cheerful. Is it wrong with you? You have a problem. The same goes for the lack of hunger, regular digestive disorders, nausea or abdominal pain. Any symptoms that have a regularity and duration of more than a week are a reason for undergoing clinical diagnostics. Don't ignore your medical conditions.

So, you can restore strength with a more or less even rhythm of life (without traumatic events) in two stages:

- stop the unconscious outflow of the resource;

- to adjust the replenishment of the resource.

If your exhaustion is associated with unexpected or regular traumatic events, in order to cope and recover, you should seek help from a psychologist and, if necessary, from a psychiatrist or neurologist. The latter is needed so that your body can cope with life while you deal with the causes and effects of injury. Do not be intimidated by the need for a psychiatrist - he is just a doctor who understands mental processes. And it is better to pick up a sedative, sleeping pill or antidepressant for you.
