Oh, This Comfort Zone
Oh, This Comfort Zone

Many people are accustomed to living on the machine. Every day is the same, actions are performed mechanically and often a person cannot even remember in detail what he did a day ago, a couple of hours ago or a couple of minutes ago. It comes to the point that a person accepts everything with the same emotions: both good and bad. Not having the strength or desire to sort out their feelings about a situation or an object

A person gets used to such a state, as in the usual clothes, and life seems to be quite good. Sort of…

This is where the main danger lies, which psychologists gave the name "comfort zone", paying special attention to the study of this concept.

Why?

Because sitting in the comfort zone, a person does not develop. He is accustomed to his routine, accustomed to his lifestyle and is quite comfortable with all this. He is afraid to change something and is afraid to look out for his "fence".

Why, you ask, to change something, if everything is fine anyway? Life goes on without bursts and changes - that means it's good. But no.

The universe is a living system. Everything is constantly changing and developing in it. And man, as a part of this system, was called upon to listen to its rhythms and work in unison with it.

Imagine a lake with a source. It is filled from him. The water in it is constantly being renewed. And if the source dries up? The water in the lake will begin to stagnate, pollute and evaporate. This is the comfort zone clearly and its consequences.

Alas, what does not develop is taken out of the Universe from the general evolutionary process to the margins of "living out its own age", these are its rules.

The influence of the comfort zone on the life of an ordinary citizen may not be particularly noticeable. Since the scale is small and responsibility is often not recognized. But in business, sitting in the comfort zone is reflected very quickly. Businessmen, just like top managers, have launched a business process, it goes on as usual for them and everything seems to be fine. There is also such a moment as the tendency to dig deep into this business process. To constantly try to improve something in it, to learn even better in it…. in short, they "cook" in it. It is important not to get overcooked here and be able to detach from the process during the time and start a completely new, different from the old business process. This is the key to success!

And in order to understand whether you personally are sitting in your comfort zone, you need to turn on awareness. Let her work every day.

How do I enable it? Very simple.

Make it a rule to audit events and results every day. Ask yourself: what did I do today? What emotions did you experience? What did you like and dislike? Why? What would you like to improve? What would I like to do the next day for my development or for the development of my business, relationships (and so on)?

Forgive yourself for what you didn’t do or didn’t succeed. Regret is the last thing, it's like boiling sour soup. It is important to understand that this day has passed and cannot be returned. BUT there is a new day! And here are all your cards. Use every day as a precious time, measured out to you by the Universe and do not forget for awareness! If it suddenly turns off for you, turn it on.

Parable:

“One master, going to a foreign country, summoned his servants and entrusted them with his property. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, each according to his strength; and immediately departed. The one who received five talents went and used them in business and acquired other five talents. Likewise, the one who received two talents acquired the other two. He who received one talent went and buried it in the ground and hid his master's silver. After a long time, the master of those slaves comes and demands an account of them. And coming up, the one who had received five talents brought other five talents and said: Master! you gave me five talents; Here are the other five talents I have acquired with them. His master said to him: well, good and faithful servant! you have been faithful in little things; I will put you over many things; enter into the joy of your master. The one who had received two talents also approached and said: Master! you gave me two talents; here are the other two talents I have acquired with them. His master said to him: well, good and faithful servant! you have been faithful in little things; I will put you over many things; enter into the joy of your master. The one who had received one talent came up and said: Master! I knew you, that you are a cruel man, you reap where you did not sow, and gather where you did not scatter, and fearing, I went and hid your talent in the earth; here's yours. But his master answered and said to him: Wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and reap where I did not scatter; Therefore, you had to give my silver to the merchants, and when I came, I would have received mine at a profit. So, take the talent from him and give to the one who has ten talents. For to everyone who has it, it will be given and will increase, but from him who does not have, what he has will be taken away. (Matt. 25: 14-30).

Now, your awareness is working at full capacity. You have asked yourself all the necessary questions, and now we start planning. It is better to do this in writing. Believe me, thanks to the process of writing, information in your head is structured even better, clarity appears, which greatly helps the planning process.

Divide your plans into:

Long-term: where do I want to go? What is my goal?

This is provided that you have one global goal. If there are several of them, then it is better to enlist the support of a coach so as not to get confused in the goal-setting processes.

Operational: what will I do tomorrow - next week - this month for my development, for business, relationships (and so on)?

Medium-term: what do I want to achieve in these six months, a year, or a couple of years?

Also write the answers to the questions:

Why do I need it? Be honest with yourself and give a detailed, deliberately grounded answer to this question. Answer: "I need it because I want / because everyone has it / why not?" - will not work.

What resources do I need for this?

Where can I get them?

Who can help me with this?

Do not be shy about your wishes! But also be at least a little realistic, so that later it will not be too painful to fall. If you have an unrealistic goal, but really want to. Then set more realistic sub-goals along the way to your global goal. So, you can correct your steps in time.

The hardest part is taking the first step.

It is important to realize here that ALL ACTIONS that you take to get out of your comfort zone should be directed to your benefit, and only then you can identify what you want to achieve or improve in your life.

For example: I want to develop by changing my character traits, learn to do something for my good, and this will then allow me to: grow as a Personality, move up the career ladder, improve my relationship with a partner, etc.

It will be a big mistake if you choose the wrong support in your development, wanting, for example, to start developing for the sake of another person. And he may not need it, in the end, he can always leave you. Or open a new direction in business, simply because it has become fashionable. And you have nothing really ready for this, and there is no particular desire … There may be many examples, but the important thing here is that in any of them, a person relies on the external, on what he cannot always control, and then at all lose.

Therefore, if you decide to work on yourself, answer first of all to yourself the question: What will I get by developing this quality in myself? What can I achieve? How will it help me in life? Be healthy and selfish. This is very good. As the Bible says, “save yourself and many around you will be saved.” +

The next step is to overcome fears about the new unknown. Your fear is an absolutely normal reaction of the nervous system to external unknown stimuli. The protection mechanism is turned on. You should not immediately rush into the pool with your head. Why do you need so much stress? Treat yourself with love (but don't confuse it with pity!).

Start to step out of your comfort zone gradually.

Today, for example, ask yourself: how can I diversify my day? What can I do that I haven’t done yet? What small step can I take towards my goal? With whom I could communicate, with whom I have not communicated yet, but who could help me? etc

And so gradually and gently, consciously, consistently, schematically, armed with paper and a pen, common sense and optimism, begin to conquer new horizons.

By the way, a person is a vertical creature, he should grow up, and not horizontally - in breadth!:)
