A funny and rather inexplicable paradox - all psychologists widely use the terrible word "psyche" on YouTube and various social networks, but … almost no one bothered to explain what it means!

Let's start with a simple one - with the meaning of this word. The psyche is a special side of the life of animals and humans and their interaction with the environment, based on higher nervous activity and manifested in the ability to reflect reality in sensations, perceptions and feelings, and in people also in thinking and will. So, animals also have a psyche, it is thanks to this that they can treat a person, therefore there is another related concept - pet therapy (this can be dolphin therapy, canistherapy (a type of therapy with animals using specially selected and trained dogs), hippotherapy (method of rehabilitation through therapeutic riding) and other options).

What are the general processes inherent in each of us, the psyche consists? Memory, attention, sensations, emotions, perception, consciousness, thinking, speech as a process reflecting the ability to express one's thoughts, criticism of one's state, intentions, behavior and even dreams, which are a mirror image of what often happens in the psyche, imagination.

When a person comes to a psychiatrist, the doctor first of all diagnoses the work of at least several functions of the psyche - What is your attention? What is your thinking based on? Is there any criticism? How does imagination work? Are you beyond reality? What are your intentions?

In the process of communication, a psychiatrist observes a person's behavior, evaluates his memory, diagnoses awareness and consciousness in general. As a result, a conclusion is made about the "life" of the psyche - is it normal, is there some kind of disorder, is reality not distorted, how do you feel about criticism, are there memory gaps.

What are the characteristics of a healthy psyche? Integrity, activity, self-regulation, communication, which is the basis for the formation of interpersonal relationships, and adaptation. What does all this mean?

A healthy psyche allows us to maintain the internal stability of our consciousness at a relatively constant level, to adapt to a new situation, and involves social interaction with other individuals - the exchange of thoughts, feelings, experiences.

It is also important to understand that the psyche is very closely connected with the somatics, with the body.

If mental processes displace something, it “goes into the body,” in other words, a psychosomatic disorder arises. Thus, if they say that your psyche has given out this and that, it is understood that these fragments of consciousness were not in the field of your awareness, some additional feelings appeared, a completely different perception of reality and the surrounding world arose. As a result, the person did not comprehend the situation clearly and received a reaction of acting out and passive aggression.

How to get out of such an unpleasant story? You need a clear and deep understanding of all the psychological processes that occur with a person every day, every minute, and even every second.
