Dear friends, in this difficult period of ubiquitous restrictions, I would like to remind you that every circumstance has two sides (even the most unforeseen, difficult ones) and the time of isolation (obviously difficult), nevertheless, it can be used with maximum benefit - not only for myself, but for the world. Are you surprised? Then I will remind you of one most expressive example.

I'll start with a work that began with a period of severe restrictions. Talk about the movie loved by millions directed by Khilkevich "Three Musketeers".

Wonderful movie, really! Noble, bright, meaningful, which has become an idol for several generations.

It is impossible to imagine the romance of Soviet (yes, and post-Soviet) childhood without the heroes of Khilkevich's film, with their exploits, love and indestructible, all-conquering friendship.

And now to the roots, friends! When did this project start? What was the defining start of an outstanding film? You do not know? I'll tell you …

Georgy Khilkevich was an athletic and desperate boy as a child, but at the age of 14 (as a result of an injury that led to a severe form of osteomyelitis) he was plastered over and bedridden for a year. And for the next two years, he was strictly limited by a special leather splint (a medical structure that fixes the joint).

The famous director wrote the following about that time: books helped him not to go crazy, especially Alexandre Dumas and most of all - "Three Musketeers", read from cover to cover countless times.

“It was then that I fell uncontrollably and irrevocably in love with the Musketeers … This novel became my salvation not only in a moral, but also in a physical sense. Rereading it endlessly, I just lived a completely fulfilling and exciting life in it. I loved, kissed, fought, fenced, rode a horse - everything was so real that my muscles were actually straining and developing! This helped not only to survive, but also to avoid atrophy. After many decades, I learned that scientists had invented a way to mentally pump up the muscular system. You just lie there, imagine this - and the muscles are working!"

And, of course, becoming a director and getting to the Odessa film studio, Georgy Khilkevich could not help but make a film based on his favorite book of virginity - a work that gave him so much joy, inspiration, moral and physical strength. Here's what he writes about it himself …

“I must say that I became the director of this film only to pay my personal debt to the great French dreamer Alexandre Dumas for The Three Musketeers, putting into my picture all my love for the work, thanks to which I did not go crazy, lying like a mummy for a year in a cast."

Now think: would such a masterpiece have formed in Soviet cinema if the Artist had put in his Creation less gratitude, experience of comprehension, heartfelt commitment, love ?! I think it’s unlikely… This movie was created by the Soul of its Author….

And the soul of the Author, as we remember, was filled with similar content during the period of "stoppage", forced pause, restrictions and abstinence - from games full of adventures, running around and endless risk, with which the stories of most Soviet boys are filled.

So, probably, the fate led Khilkevich to his main directorial work - beloved by millions of viewers, the outstanding Soviet motion picture "Three Musketeers".

That is why "stopping" the eternal run is not just, perhaps, but exactlyfor something useful: after all, in the whirl of our stories, we miss something important that you can do only slowly, meaningfully, in a long silence …

Think about it, friends! And use the forced pause for what was always postponed until tomorrow, due to the eternal workload, which would never have ended if it were not for the realities of time … We use them for good!
