The worn-out expression "time is money" indicates not only that time has value, but also that it can be measured. How much is our time worth? We do not gain our time - we, on the contrary, spend it. And then its value can be measured by those opportunities that we leave unrealized, making a choice in favor of those that we decide to implement.

The time for the work that we do not only carries the value of our work and is expressed in material reward: it has an echo of the value of those cases for which we do not have strength and opportunities after work, as well as any other work that we could do. This is how much our working time is worth.

The partner we choose can be a truly wonderful person. Time together is time that can be filled with great value in relationships and intimacy. And at the same time, this time costs us relations with all those wonderful partners that we could have, and which we refused.

Every time we start to do something new, to communicate with someone, to devote ourselves to something, we do this by giving up something else. We only have 24 hours a day, there is nowhere else to take, and no one will be able to give it away either. At the same time, we may worry that what we are doing, or those relationships with loved ones in which we invest ourselves, take much more time than we have, than we can even devote to this. It seems like how many things we could do if we only had enough time.

To achieve all possible goals, to realize ourselves in all areas of interest to us, to understand everything that responds - in the end it turns out to be impossible. All of us will not do much more in life than we will do, and all that is not done and unlived will also add up to the value of our time.

Three consequences can be drawn from this: firstly, the limitedness of our time forces us to choose what to fill this time with, what to devote it to. We are forced to make this choice, and we cannot fail to make it: we always refuse something. And we do it all the time, in most cases unconsciously.

Second, the colossal cost of time requires a choice in favor of the highest value that would counterbalance this cost. If this does not happen, we see that we are living in vain. If I make a choice not in favor of the greatest value, I trade. This is a difficult experience that we can meet at an age when there is already something to look back on: so much time has passed, and I have done so little …

And finally, there are people around us who are doing what we are not doing. And through this we can experience great joy and gratitude to those who are here and who are doing it. Because they do this, and because they share their experiences with us, our lives become richer, and each of us can live a little more than one life.
