Take responsibility for your life!
The words are beautiful, but so often not quite clear to many. Let's try to figure it out.
It is high time to admit, if someone has not done it yet, that it is impossible to change someone, to force them to be the way we want them. It is simply impossible, even more so than, as they say, "the game is not worth the candle." On the way and the desire to change someone, you will always fail, only the consciously made decision of another person to change, and most importantly, not for your sake, but for yourself, can lead to beneficial consequences.
But people change if we change. And collectively, the only one we can change is ourselves. Often we are not able to change the circumstances of life, but we are capable of our attitude to these circumstances.
So where does the change begin. Of course, with taking responsibility for your life.
What does it mean? What is “take responsibility”?
What can I personally be responsible for?
I can be responsible for:
1. Your thoughts.
2. Your feelings.
3. Your words.
4. Your actions.
1.
Taking responsibility for my thoughts means accepting that I can choose them. And if I have a stream of thoughts that do not please me and give me discomfort, it is only because I myself choose these thoughts to think and twirl in my head. Taking responsibility for my thoughts means recognizing that at any moment and from anywhere I can take and redirect my thoughts wherever I want. I can choose what to think about now or not to think about. I can replace negative thoughts with positive ones at any time. And non-recognition of these facts only says that I do not take responsibility for what I twist in my head. And as the heroine of the film "Eat, Pray, Love" said - "Choose your thoughts, as you choose clothes in the closet." And the more careful this choice is, the better you will feel.
2.
Taking responsibility for my feelings means accepting the fact that no one else is responsible for how I feel. So no one can offend me, I can choose to be offended by someone's words or actions.
I choose to react to me on something and how, or not give any reaction at all.
Taking responsibility means that at the moment when strong destructive feelings arise, I ask myself "what do I want to feel now?" And if you decide to feel pain, resentment, anger, then just admit to yourself “Yes, I want to feel it now. Yes, with the wording “I want”, because it speaks of your conscious choice. Accordingly, if the answer is “I don’t want to” then you already determine what I would like to feel now in this situation, and you are already moving in this direction.
3.
Take responsibility for your words. Just take the installation, when I speak, I immediately listen to myself. It is important to master the language of goodwill, the absence of reproaches in speech and accusations, the language of gratitude. The matter is not as simple as it seems at first glance, simply because they simply taught to reproach and accuse many in childhood, then they began to use this language in relation to themselves, which means nothing else to others, the person simply does not show, he simply does not knows how to speak differently. But the road will be mastered by the walking one.
4.
Taking responsibility for my actions means that I understand that my thoughts give rise to feelings, feelings give rise to words, and based on the fact that a person was born gives rise to actions. This means that by taking responsibility for their actions, a person automatically takes responsibility for their thoughts, feelings and words. And that means for your own life. After all, our thoughts, feelings, words and actions are the only things we can really control in this life.
Important: the root cause of everything that happens to us or does not happen is the thoughts that we constantly spin in our head.
Taking responsibility for yourself means accepting that you bear this responsibility only to yourself, and bear it. You are not responsible for the reactions of other people to you, but you can choose what reactions you want to experience towards others, and what reactions to you to receive from people, which again can be done by consciously choosing your thoughts and feelings, words and actions.
Although, when we really approach this process consciously and take responsibility for ourselves, other people also begin to change, but the reason for this is not your forcing them to do this, but their own choice.
To take responsibility for your life, or not, is up to everyone to decide.
