A case in psychotherapy.
The client is a young girl, a designer. Request - bouts of rolling depression after a successful project, unwillingness to develop in this direction.
There are no obvious prerequisites for this. Good job, salary, friends, family, parents - everything is fine here.
Why depression is not clear. They began to understand.
And as usual, it all started in childhood. Then she was about 3 years old. Parents made repairs in the room, glued wallpaper.
My daughter watched this very willingly and saw the general upsurge and joy. The parents went to drink tea, and the girl was left alone in the room. Yes, she wanted to make her own contribution to universal happiness, to join the creativity of the family. I took the markers and added a few of my own touches. An inspirational daughter arrived in a creative stream, her parents caught her in this occupation. She was spanked, her mother was shocked, stressed, screaming, swearing, a girl in deep guilt in front of her mother. For a child, this is a trauma. At the same time, her body is trying to escape from this nightmare, going over all instincts: to fight - you can't, run - nowhere, freeze - it worked. Now it has become calmer and not so scary already.
The girl grew up, this case was erased from memory, followed in the footsteps of her parents - she became a designer. And a series of depressions. The more successful the creative project was, the deeper and longer the depression.
What happened?
Formed a link between creativity and fear of physical attack. Those. instinct (state of the body) is associated with the state of energy, creative upsurge. Trauma has been pushed out of this chain. The client does not remember the trauma (he remembered it during the therapy). Fear of attack includes the physical reaction of the body to freeze (not breathe, not move, stop, i.e. depression). It is the survival instincts at the level of the mind of the body that keep the trauma (remember the danger, associate it with the instinct and avoid it in the future). As soon as a person finds himself in a similar situation, this mechanism turns on. Only then in childhood did he save, and now he interferes.
The task of therapy is to remove the connection between the state of creative ascent and the survival instinct through awareness, living and accepting that event and breaking this chain. As a result, a powerful resource is released that was encapsulated in this injury. As soon as the creative flow was released, the career of this designer skyrocketed.
