What Does The Client Choose?

At this stage of my professional development, I was faced with an interesting question. WHAT and HOW does the client choose?

Psychology, psychotherapy and sales - is it compatible? Or is the soul sphere “not on friendly terms” with sales?

I paid attention to how more experienced colleagues work and develop. Here's what I've highlighted:

1) the client buys what the "seller" believes. If I myself do not go in person because I think it is not very effective / useful / necessary, they are unlikely to go to me in person. I sell things that I myself do not believe in. If I am convinced from my own experience what personal therapy is, how it changes me and my life, I will be able to sell it to another person.

At this point, I just think that personal therapy is a vital necessity. It's like managing a pregnancy. If you go to the doctor for all 9 months and some time after giving birth, this does not mean that all this is useless. Just the opposite. This must be done throughout the entire period of pregnancy, this is an accompaniment. So is psychotherapy. Just to understand something, to know is not enough. I need ACCEPTANCE for my changes. As a timely correction of treatment, if you want:) If I drink vitamins every spring, it does not mean that last year it was done in vain. It's just that that time has passed, my body has changed, which means that its needs have changed. And you cannot drink a full complex of vitamins once and for life.

2) The client chooses energy. If I am writing a project because I need to do something in order not to sit, or I need shoes … It is unlikely that there will be a lot of energy here. That same creative, constructive libido. My product must be the result of my inner work. It needs to be charged. Like a magnet that has its own "field". This field will attract those who are suitable for this charge, who exactly need it.

I believe that a project is rather something that is “born”. The therapist works with his personality. By reworking his experience, transforming it through creative energy, the psychologist / therapist GIVES a product. Unique, distinctive, with its own energy, its own field. This is "living" energy intended for people in need of it.

It happens when a project is created for something specific: it is necessary to develop training for people with disabilities, to create something that is suitable for just such people, with certain restrictions. Then here the DIRECTION is given to the creative process. The flight has a trajectory.

3) You must rely on your own interest. I cannot rely on what I do not know. I don't know who will come to my project, who is waiting for it. If I “guess” and invent for whoever … Then I’m not in touch with reality. If it works somewhere, it's cool, but it's not about gestalt. “Here and now” I can only rely on a specific interest, impulse, intuition, or a very specific request. There is no third option for me.

Observing the mentors, I came to the conclusion that the matter is not so much in qualifications, regalia and titles, but in HOW "eyes are burning", how much the psychologist is ready to "plunge" into the client's problem, into his world, how much he is ready to be with him in real contact here-and-now, as far as he is turned on. Theoretical knowledge is great. When they are processed internally to foundations that the psychologist can draw on almost intuitively. If I, in contact with a person, remember what Grandfather Freud said about neuroses, I sort out what to "accompany" now with a client … I fall out of contact.

Real contact occurs in the present moment. Everything the therapist does is creativity. Therapy is not an exam, it is life. I rely only on the current moment and my own interest.

What do you think about that?
