The information field into which we, willingly or unwillingly, are included is huge! Experts, analysts, journalists, bloggers cover each incident from different points of view. This contributes to the fact that any event is overgrown with even more data. The amount of incoming information exceeds the capabilities of its perception by a person, he is not able to cope with it on such a scale. There are literally no time, emotional or intellectual resources for this volume. A person does not think, does not reflect, he only absorbs, perceives information at the limit of his strength and capabilities.

The availability of information and the ease with which we now receive it, leads to the fact that the concentration of attention decreases, it is impossible to focus on one source. Overloading leads to memory impairment, decreased thinking productivity, and a general deterioration in brain performance. Analytical abilities suffer: it is more and more difficult for a person to make decisions and make choices. Being involved in events, people worry, worry, waste their emotions.

Experiencing strong negative emotions cannot but affect your health. Sleep very often breaks down, appetite disappears, people begin to experience discomfort, but stubbornly continue to be included in the information field. Sometimes people fall into a trap: in order to calm down, relieve tension, they need more information, but it does not remove tension, but leads to even greater anxiety. Against this background, anxiety-phobic disorders can occur.

Out of competence

How can you not turn to the classics and not remember "You cannot embrace the immense" by Kozma Prutkov! Psychologists call this "determining the sphere of their social competence." It must be recognized that individual social competence has clear boundaries.

This exercise is recommended. It is necessary to write down all events, phenomena, stories, as well as situations with specific characters in which you have been included recently (for example, for the last month, 10 days or a week). You should not take too long a time interval, because our memory has such a function as forgetting. It's more effective to focus on what's fresh in your memory. After you write down all the situations in which you got involved emotionally, you need to analyze which of them were directly related to you, which situations you could have influenced, could have changed or improved something in them.

Write these situations on a separate sheet - this will constitute the sphere of your social competence. Everything else, perhaps very important and even tragic, is not included in it. As a person who is not indifferent, kind and sympathetic, you can empathize with what happened, but do not turn on, because the intensity and amount of your emotions will not change this situation.

By defining clear boundaries of our social competence, we do not limit ourselves, do not become callous and indifferent. We keep our peace of mind for ourselves in the first place.

Detox

Now it has become a rule of good manners to report in a circle of acquaintances or on a social network page: “I don’t watch TV”. But at the same time, a person may have all the gadgets existing today that work 24 hours a day. Quite recently, we had the luxury of turning off our phone at night, because it could wake us up in the morning even when it was turned off, now smartphones have deprived us of this opportunity as well. Therefore, even calling the TV "zombie box", you can remain dependent on the information field.

This addiction can already be put on a par with addiction to psychoactive substances, gambling and food addiction. As a result, time constraints, "information detox" do not fundamentally change the situation, but only create the appearance of control. A person who practices "information detox" is prone to "withdrawal" in the first hours or days of his existence without gadgets. Should you expose your body to additional stress?

Gadgets have become a part of our lives, and it would be strange to refuse them. They should be helpers for us, not eaters of our time, e of emotions and health. If a person's life has hobbies, interesting activities, communication not only on social networks, then the information field will not pose a threat to his comfort and health. Reducing the influence of the information field on yourself is not as difficult as it might seem.

It is enough to follow the rules that will limit the negative impact of information on our lives. For example, at a party or in a restaurant, it is indecent to look at a smartphone and put it on the table. Avoid calling employees or subordinates outside of office hours and during vacation, and therefore, do not return work calls during your vacation. You should not listen to the news while traveling, it is better to turn on an audiobook or music. If you are traveling by public transport, then do not miss the opportunity to meditate, look out the window, dream. Do not replace live communication with virtual ones, think about whether it is worth spending your life on someone who is “wrong on the network again”?
