In continuation of the recent Discovery, I want to talk about magic mechanismwhich underlies any human transformation.

It seems that it is important for all assisting practitioners to obtain actionable results that satisfy the client's request.

This means that something changes in the client: he begins to think differently and look at familiar things, behave differently and react to stressful situations, feel and experience what is happening in a new way.

In order for the mechanism of change to take effect, it is necessary to take into account the structure of our joint work. three objectively existing factors, without which no change is possible.

ENVIRONMENT is essentially an exhibition of behaviors, role models and vice versa. We may want to have something of the environmental experience, choosing and trying on certain qualities and behaviors, like dresses in a store. But fitting and buying is not enough. The dress can hang in the closet and never be worn. The reason and the desire to show off in public are important. We need ACTIVITY. This is a process of wearing, in which a new thing can become a favorite thing, a second skin, in which it is comfortable and joyful. It would seem, what else is needed? But there is a third factor that confirms the correctness of the choice and consolidates the effect of the transformations. This is an ASSESSMENT. Moreover, both internal (own) assessment is important - the very comfort and pleasure from the acquisition and use of quality, and external (other people, especially significant, reference) - compliments, praise, approval of the choice, statement of positive changes.

For clarity, let's imagine mechanism - how it works.

ENVIRONMENT gives a wide variety of impressions that a person perceives. He focuses his attention on individuals, draws conclusions about the organization of life in general and the preferred ways of organizing it for himself. This is how a person's CONSCIOUSNESS is formed, in which the preferred forms and methods of self-expression are fixed and crystallized. views, beliefs, ideals, values.

Therefore, the first thing that is important to do in working with a client is to fix in his mind the attention to a specific quality, property, form of response, i.e. select the necessary from the environmental impressions about the states and abilities of other people, and determine how realistic it is to achieve the desired for our client.

Next, we offer him a task and exercises that would train him a new quality, pump some properties and capabilities. Our goal is to form a new experience of actions, experiences, relationships. This is only possible through activity.

ACTIVITY represents the OWN ACTIVITY of a MAN and his ability to develop anything in himself. But only what we train in!

We can walk because once we got stronger muscles, got on our feet and took our first steps. We can write because we took a pen or pencil and began to draw scribbles - letters - texts …

Each of us can do a lot (dance, drive a car, embroider, knit, plane), but only what you have made an effort to personally.

Own activity underlies not only the formation of any quality or personality trait, but also its loss if activity in this direction stops. For example, I graduated from music school, violin class. She had not held the instrument in her hands for more than 20 years and, when the opportunity presented itself, was able to extract only individual sounds, in fact, completely losing the skill of playing the violin.

But further - the most interesting thing: we will not always be in touch with the client and we will not have the opportunity to analyze how he copes with the development of new roles, therefore it is very important to develop in him the skills of self-regulation and self-control, ways of self-checking the environmental friendliness of his consciousness and behavior, what determines the quality of his mental health.

And here it is not so much our EVALUATION of the changes that occur to him during therapy that is important, but the formation in him of the ability to independently determine and track his states, feelings, attitudes to what is happening to him, for which we also offer the client various tasks, exercises and techniques …

So, the mechanism of any transformation is quite simple: on the basis of three factors objectively influencing the formation of personal qualities (environment, activity and assessment), we offer the client such forms of work that would determine his consciousness, behavior and self-regulation, leading to the desired results.

It seems that such a systemic vision of helping work makes it more focused and holistic. Perhaps, to site visitors and non-specialists, such a description will seem complicated, but when planning changes on your own, it is better to follow this algorithm as well.
