At the time of my youth, and I passed it just at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the following saying was very popular: I am the last letter in the alphabet. In my understanding, this is about the fact that one person in our society does not mean anything, the masses decide here, and when a person shouted I, yes I, he was immediately hinted that this should not be done.

However, times are changing. The great state is long gone, but the habits, the collective mentality are still present. It so happened that from the moment of penetration into our culture of Western thinking, Western values, personally oriented psychotherapy, which puts the needs, desires, and freedom of each person at the forefront, more and more people in our society began to adopt an individualistic way of thinking. Is this good or bad? Let's speculate.

And so, what was strong collective thinking. Here I will immediately make a reservation, the collective does not have an organ for thinking, each person individually has such an organ. So the team is usually led by someone and he (the team) follows the path (correct) that this very leader points out. And in fact, breaking a crowd of people walking the same road is quite difficult, sometimes impossible. So collective thinking was definitely good at making our state strong. However, since not all people are able to be uncritical about what important people say, sooner or later, such collective thinking fails, and as a result, huge empires sooner or later fall apart.

What gives an individualistic approach. Each person begins to think about himself. About your needs, desires. He thinks how to satisfy them (and these are very correct thoughts, because if we do not satisfy our needs, sooner or later the person becomes very bad) and does something for this. In particular, we are looking for opportunities to negotiate with another person in order to mutually satisfy our needs. The picture seems to be very democratic and logical. However, as practice shows, not all people can be aware of their real needs and, accordingly, competently satisfy them. And it turns out that the advantage in such a situation is for people who hear themselves well.

There is still a moment when there are many individuals, then it becomes frankly difficult to agree. There are too many different desires and points of view. If you look at the modern world, then many large states are divided into smaller ones. And here the most powerful and largest state gains a huge advantage, which manages to maintain its integrity and a high level of production. And it turns out that in the modern world, states of dwarfs actually become puppets in the hands of one large one.

And then we can assume that individualism is also not a panacea for the development of mankind. For example, the current statistics of divorces in the post-Soviet space is terrifying, most of the married couples break up without having lived for several years. What can we say about how to agree and live in peace for the two states.

If you take me personally, I am still for individualism. Yes, it is not always easy to hear yourself, it is difficult to come to an agreement with another person, but there is an opportunity in this world to do something of our own, something for which each of us comes into this world. I don't know if the feeling that you are living your life is the best, but to feel this state, to live it, I suppose many people dream about it. And many succeed. And it is precisely the appeal to one's individuality that can give this opportunity to every person. Something tells me that in our world everything is there for every person to feel all the charm of self-awareness and self-realization. There are enough resources, people, opportunities.

Something like this. And if we return to the title of the article, I can say that my opinion is that I am far from the last letter in the alphabet called life, and maybe even the first. At least in the life of every single person.
