This article will be useful to all people who are going to see a psychologist. In it, I described what I would say to every client who comes to me.
As a practicing psychologist, I often meet with the fact that people do not know who psychologists are. Rather, the point is not in their lack of knowledge, but in the “distorted picture” of the psychologist's activities. Some opinions and beliefs about psychologists are more like myths than what specialists in this field really do. This situation can be aggravated by a lack of understanding of what the professional activity of psychologists is and how they can help you.
Here I will describe what I would like to say to every client who turns to me for help.
So, let's begin:
1. I am engaged in psychological counseling. This means that I work with a healthy person, do not make diagnoses, do not prescribe medications. Counseling counseling is a relatively short-term process compared to psychotherapy. When you ask how many meetings we need, I will honestly answer that I don’t know, since this is very individual and depends on many factors. On average, counseling involves 10-15 meetings.
If in the process of work, I understand that you need the help of other specialists, then I will definitely recommend contacting them.
2. The purpose of our work will be to help you understand what is happening in your life, what is the problem, the difficulty. And as a result - comprehension of what is happening and the search for new solutions to the problem in order to make your life more comfortable. In the process of work, you will see what was previously “hidden”, learn to understand yourself and your feelings, see alternative options for behavior, ideas, values, try to implement them and gain new experience.
3. I will definitely ask you what exactly you want to get from counseling and what kind of help you expect from me. We will reach agreement, formulate the goal of the work - this is called a request - and we will constantly observe whether we are moving towards it. This will be our landmark. I will also ask: how will you know that you are on the right track?
4. Advice and guidance will be absent because there are no universal recipes for happiness. I can only help you create your own “recipe”. I will not evaluate your actions and actions - not only because my code of ethics says so, but also because I really do not know what is good for you and what is bad.
5. I also have problems in my life. Yes, I am a living person and, just like you, I have different feelings. Pain and suffering are no strangers to me. You and I are equal. I can understand you, be with you when, in the course of the consultation, you encounter something unusual and difficult.
6. We will share responsibility. What does it mean? I am responsible for my knowledge, skills, training and the methods that I use. You are responsible for whether you work, whether you change something in your life or not. I believe you know better what you need and are able to make decisions on your own.

If they had properly thought, how much depends on what they were doing then - and that the point here is not only in the production of an intelligent creature, but that, in all probability, his happy physique and temperament, perhaps his talents and the very mental
TYPES OF RELATIONSHIP IN THERAPY, TYPES OF CLIENTS, EXPECTATIONS OF CLIENTS
Child-parent type. The client expects sympathy, praise, care and support. The therapist takes care of the unfortunate, confused, traumatized, etc. client. This relationship model is dangerous because the client himself perceives himself as a poor martyr, which increases the risk of maladjustment.
Tell Me Who You Like And I'll Tell You Who You Are
"What kind of people do we like" is a seemingly banal question. But no. If you approach it thoughtfully, then you can realize that the answer to this question determines us and our life to a large extent. So, understanding the answer to such a question determines:
What Is Your Body Hurting About And What Does It Want To Tell You?
What is your body hurting about and what does it want to tell you? The body is a cheat sheet of our inner and physical state, it is the place where we put all our feelings and experiences that caused pain and confusion, fears that we cannot fight back, anger that can be directed, both at others, and to myself.
To Tell Or Not To Tell The Child About The Death Of The Parent?
This is not the first time I have come across such a question. And the very formulation of the question is strange to me. There are such opinions: generally evade the questions of the child, while small; to say that the parent has moved far away, or “gone to a better world”;
