I think everyone has heard about workaholism. This is a constant desire to work, to spend days and nights at work.

Do you know what an urgent addiction is?

This is not only the desire to work without sleep and rest, it is a constant state of lack of time and the fear of "not being in time". For this, an urgent addict controls everything: working hours, rest and entertainment time.

He always has a diary at hand, and sometimes two, one for work, the second for the weekend. He also plans rest, and by the hour and minute.

Such people outwardly look very successful. They are active, collected, they have "everything on the shelves", they are excellent workers: "To work on the weekend? You are always welcome, I will just rewrite the plan in the weekend diary."

However, an urgent addict is devoid of flexibility, he is so passionate about plans and time control that he simply will not notice the changed situation, when his conscientiousness no longer leads to a certain goal, when tactics need to be changed, but our addict is not up to this, he has a time and time frame. It operates according to a clear algorithm, without turning anywhere.

God forbid you to go on vacation with such a person, if you yourself, of course, are not an urgent addict. You will have a schedule not only every day, but every hour: you must spend a certain amount of time on the beach, incl. stay in the water is also monitored, you should visit all the surrounding attractions and go on long excursions every other day. In the end, it turns out that you did not have time for a lot, because "you planned your vacation poorly."

An urgent addict always does not have time.

I will not reveal to you the secret that such behavior sooner or later leads to neurosis.

In my practice, I have met with such addicts more than once.

Our time, our today's rhythm of life, when the motto is "the night is not for sleep," contributes to the fact that people imperceptibly become dependent on work, on the fact that they have to do everything, on the constant control of time.

Of all such clients, I remember one girl. A clever, beautiful, excellent student, a graduate student who crammed so many things into one day that an academician could not do it. We worked with her for a long time. One of the tasks for her was this - to arrange a day of laziness for herself: do not rush anywhere, do not plan anything, you can wander around the house in your pajamas all day, eat candy, and throw candy wrappers on the floor.

When I painted about a day of laziness, horror froze in my client's eyes. But she made up her mind. And she liked it. 😊
