WHERE HAVE THE MASTERS OF HIS WORK
WHERE HAVE THE MASTERS OF HIS WORK

Very often I hear recently that it is impossible to find a good specialist in any field. Where did they go? Are they extinct like mammoths?

We turn to the service sector and remain disappointed, we try to consult with different specialists, and as a result we do not receive information. Doctors laugh that patients diagnose themselves based on information on the Internet, but many people know firsthand what it is to go to clinics and try to find out what's wrong with you.

As before, people find acquaintances. Having a specialist for every occasion is great luck and salvation. It's hard to even describe how frustrating everyday little things are. Surely each of you has come across a similar one.

You take the dress to the atelier to sew it in and you can never wear it again, because it loses its appearance and sits ridiculously. You carry your favorite boots to change the heels, and then you feel embarrassed to wear them, because together with the heels you also turned the heels. There is a saying among the people that if household appliances or electronics are taken to a workshop, they will never work again.

This is how we strive to find worthy specialists for friends and acquaintances, so as not to expose ourselves once again to chagrin. And this is despite the fact that hairdressing salons, ateliers, repairs of all kinds are at every step.

Well, the dress can still be endured somehow. And if it’s a fur coat for 150 tr., And if it’s a renovation of an apartment in which you then live for a long time, and if it’s building your own house for many years?

When and why did it happen that most people are out of place?

I remember that in the USSR there was a similar situation, they sewed terribly in the atelier, the equipment could be repaired only by great pull, the sellers were rude, and the shops did not indulge in a variety of goods. Then it was believed that equalization, i.e. the same salary, regardless of everyone's personal contribution to the process of activity and the quality of his work, has corrupted people. A lot of workers and employees appeared, parasitizing on the team. Although we are most likely talking about isolated cases, since one important point motivated - patriotism.

What is happening now? Patriotism, if you believe social networks, at least scoop up a bucket. Previously, people worked for the "common good", now for themselves. It seems to everyone, as they say, according to their abilities. Wages depend mainly on the quality and quantity of work performed, not taking into account state structures, where little has changed since the times of the USSR, and even worsened, but more on that later.

So what happened?

It would seem that if you have your own business, improve your skills and people will be happy to visit you. And it turns out, as it seems to me, the following. A good specialist, passionate about his work, rents a small room and starts working with pleasure. He slowly unwinds and acquires regular customers, and now there are so many of them that he cannot cope, and it is unlikely that he will be able to earn a lot, for example, on minor repairs of clothes.

At this stage, the question arises, what to do next?

You can start offering customers exclusive services, for example, tailoring designer clothes, and charge other money for this. Some clients will drop out, but this is a different level of skill and a different income. Well, creativity is, after all, not just a routine job.

There is another option - to earn from turnover. In this case, assistants are hired, and the same clothing repair is carried out, but on a large scale. There are very few people who can do the same routine work well and responsibly from year to year. Moreover, hired workers are not interested in the result to the same extent as the owner. And the salary of an employee is several times less. There is no way to pay big salaries in such places. Most come in order to gain their own client base, so as not to work "for an uncle" later. Workers change. On a small salary, newcomers also come, who obey, which is reflected in the reputation of the organization.

Here, too, you can turn on creativity, for example, to repair exclusive clothes, this is money from others and high-class employees who receive a good salary and hold on to their place, since the work is interesting and creative. So it turns out that an ordinary atelier will work worse and more formal, no matter how good the owner is. It turns out that this is natural.

To be honest, I do not see any other opportunity for ordinary ateliers, hairdressers, repair shops to maintain the proper level of skill. There must be a different story in networked households if decent wages are provided and employees depend on the number of orders and the quality of their professional activities.

And what about large organizations and manufacturing enterprises? Well, here it seems to me everything is very clear. For many years, they did not prepare cadre workers, and therefore there is a big problem with the search for specialists. Large and serious companies outbid each other's highly skilled workers. Many companies open training centers where they train employees for themselves.

But the saddest situation, it seems to me, is in government agencies.

They managed to collect all possible disadvantages, both in the selection and placement of personnel and in personnel policy in principle.

So, the salary is low, therefore, one can only count on a not very high level of professionalism initially, when hiring.

Of course, there are good specialists who came to the profession, so to speak, "at the call of the heart," and took their place. But such a few, and it is difficult for them in a crowd of mediocrities and idlers. They either burn out or leave the profession, because "one is not a warrior in the field."

Further, the salary is leveling, depending on the position - minus one more motivation - the desire to earn more. That is, no matter what I do, even if I beat the thumbs up, I will receive my salary, albeit small.

That. the main motivation for an employee who gets a job in such organizations is stability. Initially, the contingent is inactive, rigid, incapable of creativity, passive and inert.

The placement of personnel also takes place not according to the principle of where this employee will be most effective, but according to the principle of the available vacancy.

Further - the absence of mentors who will help to adapt in the profession, acquire new professional tools and skills, as well as share their own experience gained over the years, and the employee does not have to develop from scratch. The practice of mentoring has been abandoned for a long time and has serious consequences.

Let's imagine how it works. Each next employee becomes more effective than the previous one, having learned the experience already gained before him, using it as a launching pad. This site is already accumulating its own, new, advanced experience, and so on.

Those. a person in the profession is constantly developing. And if each newcomer is forced to spend time just to figure out what and how to do, then the development in the profession has the form of a plateau, where each next one is not better than the previous one, it would be good even worse.

Even an optimistic employee who comes with glowing eyes, bumping into a wall of alienation and formalism, invariably gives up over time.

Further - the educational base. Now there are very few professions for which they prepare seriously and individually. Education has become universally blurred, all "managers", i.e. leaders. And where are the workers, ordinary employees, artisans, finally?

Accordingly, the level of initial knowledge leaves much to be desired, and without the help of a mentor, it is generally a "pipe". They threw the not smart kitten into the water, and get out, as you know.

So you will think - what conditions exist for a person to become a master of his craft? Yes, no. Of course, there are people who, even in such conditions, become high-level professionals, but this is more about "through hardships to the stars", or "in spite of everything." Those. the normal mechanism of development in the profession turns into a feat.

There is another curious motive in such institutions - career growth, mind you not professional, but career. Those. striving to become a leader - striving for power. Of course, wages are higher there, and somewhere this is understandable. But here's an interesting pattern. In such structures, usually the one they want to get rid of is sent upstairs.

They try not to promote good employees and patch up holes with them, in the form of "stupid bums". Accordingly, when an order comes from above: "Send an employee to help a higher organization" - they send someone who is not sorry. In addition, most managers do not like “smart people” in their subordination. Well, okay, that they did not have time, screwed up, didn’t, he will swear at everyone, and calm down. And among the idlers, no one will mind, because they know that no one else is needed, they will endure and bow and show incredible flexibility.

Remember the anecdote when a job seeker was asked why he left his previous job, and he replied: "I was not flexible enough." He was asked: "What does this mean?" He replied, "This is the ability to lick your butt and at the same time look into your eyes with devotion."

I will no longer talk about the personal qualities of those who are striving for power at any cost, and the losses they incur at the same time - this is a separate big topic.

Of course, it happens that some talented employee is noticed and promoted, but what will happen to his talent next under such pressure is a question. Most likely, he will have to mimic the total mass, otherwise the structure will squeeze him out anyway.

And then everyone is surprised, and why such “wonderful” orders and orders come from above, with spelling, stylistic, professional errors, and sometimes so simply stupid. And what is there to be surprised? Let's remember who we sent there for a raise? Here!!!

This situation is perfectly illustrated by the Georgian short film "Leave this Fool" from the movie "The Real Tbilisi and Others" in 1976. I have thrown a video for you on YouTube, if you want you can watch it.

Everything, the circle is closed and there are no prospects for growth and development in the profession, with the exception of rare individuals.

For many years now I have been trying to understand how and by what means such structures, organizations, enterprises survive? And I cannot understand. Probably, only at the expense of state funding, otherwise they would have collapsed long ago.

From year to year, a bunch of people rewrite papers, change names, alter IDs, signs on doors, uniforms, letterheads, stamps, and improve efficiency to complete inefficiency. Sorry for the pun. But what brilliant reports they make out of thin air !!!

Let's appreciate the masters of their craft. Now I'm not talking about those "professionals" who shout about themselves at every corner. And not about those who are promoting themselves in all kinds of social networks, appropriating merit that they do not have. And not about those who pay for reviews about themselves. And not even about those who use other people's quotes, not even knowing who they belong to, and vulgarity, to increase popularity. Let's be more selective, and maybe then the masters will return?
