10 Types Of People Who Fall Into Sects

There is such an idea that one particular type falls into the sects, and only he should be afraid. But on the basis of personal experience, I concluded that this is not the case. Different people come across, but still I have identified the main types. Of course, there are more types, but these are the ones that I observed the most. By sect, I mean a totalitarian and destructive sect where a person loses the right to privacy and cannot satisfy his basic needs, such as the need for security, due to the behavior of formal and informal leaders.

  1. People are looking for simple answers to difficult questions. This is perhaps the most common category. There are a lot of them, people want some kind of illusion of control, simplicity of life, justice. Otherwise, life is too scary. There is no order in the world and life is an unfair lady. Well, try to live in such a world. Do you like this? Therefore, people are looking for at least the illusion of order and justice. What justice is there! There is order! Or we will restore them. They believe there are simple tools that work like a magic wand! You applied them - and hop, it all worked. But there are no magic wands, and this will become clear at some point. But by this time, the losses may already be significant. And before that, they will tell you: you are simply using our magic wand incorrectly, it works, it's just that your hands are growing out of the wrong place. But it's not that. There are no magic wands at all.
  2. Those who are afraid to take responsibility for their lives. There are also many of them, responsibility entails consequences. And besides, many of us in childhood were not taught to take responsibility for ourselves. Some, already as adults, now and then shift the responsibility to others. And some, with their responsibility, have twisted that they no longer want her. They say: "Let other uncles or aunts now answer for me and choose, but I don't want any more."

  3. Vain comrades who want to be better than others or think of themselves as better. Such a person lives, and then he is told: “If you are with us, then you are better than others! Not like these ignorant people who are like animals! " And the person is like: "Yes, all my life I thought that I was an uncrowned king, but here they really tell me that I am a king!" Of course, the word "king" here is conditional, it means simply the one who is higher than others. Here I also include careerists who want to become higher than others with the help of a career, but do not want to put in a lot of effort for this, or God forbid they work. Yes, in sects, of course, you also have to do something. But I’ll say from my own experience that making a career in a sect is much easier than in a commercial organization. Because in a commercial organization there are a lot of things that you have to comply with. You must be a professional, you must have good soft skills, you must be able to find a common language with people. And within the sect, personal loyalty to leaders and organizations is most valued. After all, they create and maintain it for themselves. Here in my organization there were frank * radishes *, well, just * radishes *, and sometimes they could not even observe anything. And everyone knew about it, but they were respected people because they were loyal to the leaders and the organization. And personal loyalty was on the pedestal as the main virtue.

  4. Creatures with sadistic or totalitarian inclinations. I have already said that sects most often require only self-devotion. Although with the word "only" I got excited, because with such a completely devoted person you can do almost anything. And if it is, then through their fingers they usually look at how someone mocks others. Exception: if it turns into a big scandal. And even criticism can be prohibited against such people, no matter what they do. Critics can even be threatened, as was the case with me. Or they might preach on how critics can be maimed and killed. And naturally, people are afraid to defend themselves, especially children, and especially children who grew up in a cult. After all, they have learned by heart from childhood that leaders cannot be criticized, otherwise it’s ata-ta. My friend said that her close friend for 7 (!) Years hid from her the harassment of an elder in the sect. She was so intimidated by her fellow believers. That is, for a sadistic or controlling type, this is direct paradise. A paradise of impunity.

  5. People who are rejected by the wider society. For example, mentally ill, or marginalized, or people with physical disabilities. Leaders reason like this: “Can floors be cleaned? We take! " The sect will gladly accept people who will add to the staff of its free workers. And people will get the impression: "Finally we have found a place where we are accepted!" But I rather accept not them, but their free labor. And you can't even imagine how many times I observed a situation when people who could no longer plow for the good of the sect were thrown away like a broken thing. What did I see there. I myself was at this place. To check for lice, you can pretend to be sick for six months or a year, and look at the behavior of "colleagues". To heighten the effect, you can still ask for help. And to make it even more hectic - try to criticize the leaders for real (!) Serious misconduct. And see how the people who yesterday claimed that they were your family fall off like dried mud.

  6. Very young people who have no experience. Sometimes even children. Or maybe they are adults, but they have little experience, or they have not had such a negative experience before. They do not understand that people can lie, manipulate, mock, and all this with words of good intentions. There was a girl in my sect, she was only 15 years old, and she was told to hide her visit to the sect from her relatives. Relatives who are responsible for it, and who invested a lot in it, in contrast to the sectarians, who mostly took. In addition, she had a physical defect, and she was ashamed of it. That is, she also belonged to the previous category. I used to blame myself very much and regretted that I did nothing to let her family know. But I could not do it, because my brains were also washed. And now I'm smarter, but it's too late, she's an adult.
  7. Smart people who are confident in themselves! One hundred percent! Pride precedes fall. I know people who say, "Well, I am a fool, I know that I am a fool," and they sincerely think so. These people have a very small risk of getting into trouble, because they think to themselves: "Well, I'm a fool, I won't go there, because I'm a fool, the consequences will not be very good." But a smart person thinks: “Well, I'm smart! What will happen to me! I'll just go and see! " And it ends very badly.
  8. Those for whom this is just a get-together. Yes, yes, there are those for whom sects, even destructive ones, are just a get-together. As a hobby. Some have hobbies like cross-stitching or camping, and some have hobbies of being in a sect. There is also a lot of interesting things: your language, your own clothes, your parties. And you can have fun there if you just take it as a get-together. And the party people can easily suck people in because they create a picture that "we're having fun here." And the people involved may take it more seriously. And now they can already sip shit in full.
  9. People looking for a mission. They even agree to close their eyes to some ugly things, if they are given a mission and the feeling that their life is MEANED BY. In doing so, they can break the lives of others. And with full confidence that they are doing a good job. Missionaries, like party people, are very persuasive. People feel their sincerity and trust them.

There are 10 more categories. But they do not fall into the sect, they are simply born into it. Or they find themselves in it voluntarily-forcibly, because their parents turned out to be. And as for me, this is the most unfortunate category. If the cult spits them out because of the conflict, or they leave on their own, it is extremely difficult for them to adapt. It is usually easier for adults who come, judging by what I saw.

So as you can see, there is no one type, and these types can be mixed. And we can all be vulnerable to sects. After all, almost all of us are a little vain, we want justice, order in life and a little meaning. And do not consider yourself invulnerable and arrogant. If it seems to you that there are other important types that I have not mentioned, do not be greedy, write it in the comments.
