The new year has begun, and while some are filling out new diaries, and those who are more neurotic have long drawn up checklists for each task, it's time to remember that internal changes are more important than external movements of things. Visiting a psychologist in 2019 may be more useful than visiting 69 countries, and here's why.

1. Every third person in Ukraine has a nervous disease, if no jokes about the under-examined. Psychiatry in my country receives 2 million new patients every year, here we are the first in Europe. Dry facts turn into a real drama when one day you realize that your mental state (depression, for example) does not respond to anyone around you. A hand in a cast can be posted, wishes and offers of help can be collected, and psychological and psychiatric problems still alienate people. This is the reason develop a responsible attitude towards your mental health, learn to observe yourself, reflect and seek help. Last year, I heard many times “am I really at the stage when I need a psychologist,” and these were people who amazed me with the flexibility and strength of their psyche in their circumstances.

2. To learn recover in the processwithout accumulating fatigue and burnout in anticipation of a vacation, a nervous breakdown or sick leave. When the therapeutic effect of everyday things disappears, and the speed and pressure at work increases, along with fatigue, the risk of falling apart increases. Then one meeting a week can be an excuse to do it in a safe environment, where they will help you pack back and move on without slowing down.

Looking back in 2018, I understand that I ran it with three jobs, three training projects and exams, moved twice, got my license, brought a Munich diploma in children's curative pedagogy and therapy in a suitcase, consulted, rushed to some seminars and conferences, soldered therapy groups, wrote on Lusya's badges, cried for others, loved, remained empathic and feeling, because I had an eco-friendly way to relieve stress during breaks.

3. To achieve your goals during a year. Check their compatibility with reality, measurability, testability, separate them from introjects and mom's scenarios, combine with personal meanings and values, form good attitudes that will help keep balance during failures and reach the end. Last year, I was able to see in life and work how a good installation makes a stable bridge out of a rope over an abyss. On December 31, I heard on the phone gratitude for working together in a crisis, but no less, never less, I am grateful to this girl for her courage.

4. To see new and expand your ways of communicating with the world. Past experience and familiar coping strategies are not the most reliable tools for living in a dynamic world. This is when he scared himself and refused a good offer. Or overworked for fear of delegating. Or he worked a lot, but stayed where he was. Life consists of changes, and if you do not move towards them, they may happen at the wrong time and not in the way we would like. Last year I consulted a young man with a recurring business scenario. After 40 minutes, I put my working hypothesis into one everyday question, and it turned out to be enough. The client's insight happened, but the result will show itself depending on how he applies it, and working with himself is a long routine work and requires patience. And yet she is worth herself.

5. To finally close your gestalts … Traumatic experiences can interfere with the comfort of everyday life, returning a person to unfinished processes of many years ago. I had a client who felt guilty for other people's quarrels, for example, between the heads of other departments at a meeting, although he was on an equal footing with them and did not interfere. This cannot be completely attributed to endless quarrels between parents in childhood (simplifications in psychology lead to a dead end, and we must not forget that any external phenomenon falls on a complex multi-level system, which is a person), but psychological work really helps to get rid of such meaningless everyday suffering.

Be open to new things, love and win this year.
